President Donald Trump has taken a swipe at Meghan Markle and Prince Harry after the two recorded a video urging Americans to exercise their right to vote in the November 3 election.

Trump had spoken out about the couple during a White House press briefing when he was asked about Markle and Harry's video message.

Trump said that he is not a fan of Markle, who is best known for her role as Rachel Zane in the U.S. television drama "Suits." As for Harry, Trump wished him a lot of luck, saying, "he is going to need it."

In the video, Markle said: "Every four years, we are told the same thing, that this is the most important election of our lifetime. But this one is." Markle is referring to the upcoming presidential election.

Harry, for his part, said that with the November election approaching, it is vital that people reject hate speech, misinformation, and online negativity.

The video, which appeared during an ABC primetime special on Tuesday for the Time 100, has been construed as an endorsement for Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden despite both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry not mentioning any names. However, a source close to Harry has denied this.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently residing in California after shocking the world by resigning their royal duties and leaving the U.K. early in January. They initially said they would transfer to Canada.

Before marrying Prince Harry, Meghan Markle had called Trump misogynistic and divisive during a TV appearance.

Earlier this year, when the couple transferred to the U.S. from Canada, Trump had tweeted that Harry would not be getting a security funded by taxpayers as he had already ditched his royal duties. He noted that the U.S. would not pay for their security protection, and they must pay it themselves.

In an interview with Marie Claire, Markle said that she would be casting her vote this November as she knows what it is like to either have a voice and not have one.

Corey Lewandowski, Trump's campaign manager, had also fired shots at the couple, saying they made Britain great again by leaving, and he hopes that they do the same for the U.S.

According to royal insiders, Harry and Markle have crossed a line by speaking out about the U.S. election as they are still representatives of the U.K., and the Royals should not get involved in politics.

Royal experts said that the Sussexes should just give up their titles and cut their ties to the U.K. monarchy for good if they wanted to have their say on the U.S. politics.

The Buckingham Palace seemed to have distanced themselves from the couple's comments by highlighting the fact that the Duke is no longer a working royal. Thus, whatever he said was of his own volition.

However, Markle is an American and has always voted, so the business of not getting involved in politics as a member of the royal family is less clear for her.
