Shakira's Artistic Take on World Oceans Day on Instagram

The News reported that Shakira highlighted the damage that the ocean has endured because of the waste that is thrown in the waters.

"An estimated 17.6 billion pounds of plastics leaks into the ocean every year," the Colombian singer said in her caption.

Shakira wowed her 70.2 million followers as she posed inside a tank filled with greenish water, plastics, and different waste materials lurking in the water. The digital art piece also showed the water tank to be clear in the beginning, then it gradually turns into the murky water, leaving the Colombian singer's silhouette as well as the shadows of the waste materials.

Shakira looked stunning in the "digital art piece" with her scarlet hair and off-white colored clothing. The "Waka-Waka" singer shared that the art piece on her Instagram account was made by Director and photographer Jaume de Laiguana, who is also her friend.

Shakira noted that their collaboration intended "to raise awareness about the gravity of the situation."

Shakira's love for the environment also led her to be a member of the council of EarthShot Prize. The Colombian singer promoted the group in her Instagram post, saying that they will recognize "groundbreaking solutions" that can make the biggest progress in addressing environmental problems. Shakira's promotion of her group echoes the goal of the United Nations because World Oceans Day this year is themed to the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, which will run from 2020-2030.

"Together we can revive our oceans," said Shakira on her Instagram post. Details on how to enter innovations on EarthShot were not furthered by the Colombian singer.

Shakira's Love for the Waves

The Colombian singer is vocal about her love for the waves, the ocean, and the environment as she tries to involve her children with different nature activities, Explico reported. But Shakira's love for the waves was more evident as she updated her fans on her encounter with waters.

Recently, Shakira also took to Instagram as she showcased her surfing skills while riding the waves with her pink surfboard. In the video, the Colombian singer seems to enjoy the splashes of water and getting adventurous.

Because of her skills in surfing, Explico noted that the "Waka-Waka" singer earned the nickname "Surfkira" on the internet after showing off her skills while riding the board.

Apart from herself, Shakira also featured some of the Spanish surf champions in her Instagram feed, as she pointed out that Oceans are vital to the children.
