Another day, another bit of juicy news on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 for all of the hardcore phablet-philes. Actually, there's two bits of juicy news: confirmation of the Wi-Fi chip used, as well as the CPU/GPU combinations for the two Note 3 models.

Firstly, the Wi-Fi chip. It has been confirmed that Samsung will be using the Broadcom BCM4339 5G Wi-Fi chip. An earlier generation of that chip was originally announced for utilization in both the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 back in May, and this latest version promises to pack quite a punch:

-Integrated 5G WiFi PA and LNA technology to allow small form factor designs and reduced total BOM

-Transmit beamforming and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes for greater coverage and robust whole-house media and data applications

-433Mbps Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) PHY rate for superior speed

-Broadcom proprietary TurboQAM® for 33 percent increase in 2.4GHz speed

-Broadcom proprietary Channel Smoothing WLAN PHY to increase receiver sensitivity by an average of 2 db across 802.11n and 802.11ac rates

-Specific to the BCM4339, Broadcom is the only vendor to offer Long Term Evolution (LTE) coexistence

Of course, the biggest benefit will be the blazing-fast speeds one can expect to receive with 5G connectivity. Beyond that however, it appears that the chip will also serve to help slim down the phone as a whole.

"Because they utilized Broadcom's BCM4335, both the HTC One and the Samsung Galaxy S4 launched with 5G Wi-Fi technology also known as 802.11ac, something that allowed the companies to cut costs, slim down their form factors while also aiding with performance, particularly with Wi-Fi connectivity," notes gottabemobile.com.

There's also been new information on the processor front. Samsung will be releasing two different versions of the phone based on whether the country you are in has LTE networks or not. It has been confirmed that the United States will receive only the LTE version while the U.K will get both.

"According to the information we have recently received, the Galaxy Note III LTE (SM-N9005) will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) CPU clocked at 2.3GHz and an Adreno 330 GPU. The Galaxy Note III 3G (SM-N900) will feature 3GB LPDDR3 (Channel A+B - 12.8Gbit+12.8Gbit) RAM," write the folks at SamMobile.

Again, while all of this information seems to be fairly legitimate, don't bank on anything for sure until Samsung finally debuts the Note 3 right before the IFA electronics conference in Berlin. That will occur Sept. 4, and many speculate a late-September release for the Note 3.
