Larry Hernández has been very affected by the death of Tito Torbellino.

After the death of his colleague on May 29 at a Sonora, Mexico restaurant, the narcocorridos singer has started to see life differently.

"Unfortunately, my friend who I have collaborated with on many projects is gone," he said, according to La Opinion. "We recorded a song a month and a half before it happened. And it made me think: Wow, these are things I've had to live through! And when I was there saying goodbye to him along with his son, it made me think a lot about the next steps in my career."

He also talked about the possible reasons for Torbellino's death.

He's heard people say it was because he sang narcocorridos or because he didn't listen.

"Many things are said, but I think that destiny can't be changed by anyone, but we can guide it by doing the right things," he said.

But he says that despite the wave of violence in Mexico, he is preparing himself to perform in the country. This year he has more concerts in Mexico than he has in the past.

"The fans tell me Larry please don't go to Mexico," he said. "TV producers send me messages saying to please not go to Mexico, but Mexico is not at fault. I'm not going to place the blame on anyone. Every person decides how to live his or her life."

Hernández has denied receiving death threats. His 2009 album "16 narcocorridos" brought him success.

He is the winner of three Billboard awards, and he's getting ready to release his next album, which will be released this summer. He is currently working on a reality show about his life called "Larrymanía," which first premiered on Mun2 in October 2012.
