In just a few days, Season 7 of "True Blood" will be bringing the southern gothic-style supernatural drama to the HBO network.

Fans who have been waiting for it will have their wish granted on June 22 when Season 7 premieres. It was just announced that this would be the final season for the hit HBO series, which will have 10 episodes total. A farewell special precedes the premiere of the seventh and final season. There will also be a cameo appearance of Charlaine Harris in the farewell special, according to her Facebook page. She is the author of the novels on which the show is based.

The farewell special "Farewell to Bon Temps" will reunite Brian Buckner, who continues to be the series' showrunner and executive producer along with Alan Ball, as well as several cast members. A final season preview will be included in the special. Luke Grimes, who plays the vampire James in the previous seasons, will not star in Season 7. He had asked to be released from his contract because of creative differences back in December of 2013. Nathan Parsons, an actor from Australia, will be replacing him. Tara Buck (Ginger) and Adina Porter (Lettie Mae Thornton) are now part of the regular cast.

It seems that there will be big trouble in Bon Temps when Season 7 starts since there will be a threat to the peaceful existence of vampires and humans because of the Hep V outbreak. Expect to see a blood bath in the final season opener when the Hep V-infected vampires become party crashers. A familiar face will be killed, and there's suspense galore as his death will have a great impact on the residents of Bon Temps. The story might also take on a new direction, which is still uncertain at this point.

One of the biggest questions is the whereabouts of Eric. He seemed to have burst into flames and (possibly) died in the ending of Season 6. Was that his final end?
