A 100-year-old man from Brazil became one of the Guinness World Records title holders after working for a single company for over 84 years. The man from Brazil was identified as Walter Orthmann, according to USA Today.

The Guinness World Records verified in January this year that Orthmann worked for the same company for exactly 84 years and nine days.

"His passion, discipline, and commitment motivated him to keep doing what he loves and, eventually, become an official Guinness World Records title holder for the longest career in the same company," the organization underscored.

Orthmann attributed his triumph to focusing on the present and his work.

"I don't do much planning, nor care much about tomorrow. All I care about is that tomorrow will be another day in which I will wake up, get up, exercise, and go to work," the 100-year-old man from Brazil said.

Orthmann broke his record in 2019, with 81 years and 85 days. The man from Brazil noted that he considers being the titleholder for the longest career in the same company as his greatest achievement.

Brazil: Walter Orthmann's Career Throughout the Years

Orthmann was born in the town of Brusque, Brazil on April 19, 1922.

FOX 6 noted that the town located in the Santa Catarina region of Brazil was home to a large German population.

The Brazilian man shared with GWR that when he was young, he would walk to school barefooted. He also noted that he was described as an "exceptional student" with a brilliant memory and attention to detail. However, financial problems at home made him help his family at an early age.

Guinness World Records noted that Orthmann began working on January 17, 1938. He was 15 years old at that time.

"Back in 1938, kids were expected to work to help support the family. As the oldest son of five, my mother took me to find a job at the age of 14," Orthmann noted.

The Brazilian man applied for a job at ReneauxView, now called Renaux S.A. He was hired as a shipping assistant all because he was proficient in the German language.

Soon after, Orthmann was promoted to a position in sales. He later became a sales manager.

USA Today mentioned that sales manager was the position Orthmann held ever since.

When Orthmann reached his fifties, he began traveling across Brazil, prompting him to meet people from different cultures and places. Guinness noted in their release that this experience made Orthmann fall in love with being on the move and establishing a good relationship with clients.

"When we do what we like, we don't see the time go by," Orthmann stressed.
