ABC News reported that Heritage High School was not specifically targeted by the social media threat made by the California teen. However, the post of the teen reportedly revealed that he planned to "shoot up a school" as well as "kids."

The police were reportedly notified by people who saw the social media post of the 17-year-old.

Detectives who obtained a search warrant encountered the California teen around 2 p.m. on Sunday while he was returning home.

Another California Teen Arrested Over Shooting Threats

The 17-year-old from Menifee was not the first teenager that was arrested by the California police in June.

Last week, the police reportedly arrested a 16-year-old male after they received a tip that he was recruiting other individuals to carry out a shooting and bombing at Berkely High School, Fox News reported, citing a local news outlet.

It was unclear if the 16-year-old was a student from Berkely High School. Authorities also did not reveal the identities of the individuals that were recruited for the shooting.

The police reportedly searched the teenager's home after obtaining a warrant, prompting them to find parties for explosives, assault rifles, and electronics that could be used to make new weapons.

The suspect reportedly turned himself in after the warrant was issued. The 16-year-old was slammed with charges, including threatening to commit a crime that will result in death or great bodily injury.

Berkeley Police Department said in a statement. that school safety remains as a high priority for their department. They furthered that they dispatched a school resource officer to Berkely Highschool following the incident.
