The Lancaster Police Department said in its press release that they dispatched officers to the Lancaster Community Park on Saturday at around 8:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, the officers at the site were told that a disagreement between the coaching staff and officiating crew of a game turned into a physical altercation at the park, USA Today reported.

Police said one of the persons involved in the altercation fired a gun and shot a man. The police did not identify who was the victim of Saturday's tragedy. However, a Twitter account with the handle Texas Football Life paid tribute to a coach named Mike Hickmon.

"We send our deepest thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, former teammates, and players of Coach Mike Hickmon after learning about the appalling tragedy that took place earlier this evening in Lancaster," the account said. The message was paired with a photo of the deceased Texas football coach.

The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office also confirmed to the Dallas Morning News that Hickmon died in the hospital on Saturday night. However, authorities did not reveal his cause of death, The Daily Beast reported.

The police are now asking the public for information concerning the whereabouts of Aqib Talib's brother. The investigation into the Texas shooting in Lancaster is currently ongoing.

The attorney of the former NFL star confirmed to TMZ on Sunday that Aqib Talib was present during the "unfortunate incident."

"[Aqib] is very distraught and devastated over this terrible loss of life," the former NFL star's attorney said. The lawyer added that Aqib wanted to convey his condolences to the victim's family and "everyone who witnessed this unfortunate tragedy."

The police suspended their investigation that same month, and both Aqib and Yaqub were not arrested or charged in connection with the case.
