Republicans, especially followers and allies of former President Donald Trump, have recently been lashing out at the FBI and the Department of Justice over the FBI search into Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in Palm Beach, Florida. They just received a rebuke from former Vice President Mike Pence, who served as Trump's second-in-command.

According to the Associated Press, Pence implored his fellow GOP members to stop lashing out at the FBI. He also denounced calls by Trump allies to defund the FBI. He said that the idea was "just as wrong" as the calls from Democrats to "defund the police."

The call from Pence comes as law enforcement, particularly the FBI, is on high alert for attacks from Trump supporters angered by the search at Mar-a-Lago for classified documents Trump held on to after leaving the White House.

Mike Pence Tells Fellow Republicans: Do Not Attack FBI Agents

Pence spoke in New Hampshire to address several issues during a Politics & Eggs event, a breakfast gathering at St. Anselm College for business leaders. It is usually a customary stop for those who seek the highest office in the land, as New Hampshire is an early-voting state. However, the Boston Herald noted that the former VP's appearance at the event is not a sure-fire sign that he is running.

In his speech, he said he is also troubled by the "politicization of the FBI" and called for the Justice Department and Attorney General Merrick Garland to be more forthcoming about the search conducted at Mar-a-Lago.

The Department of Justice has since unsealed the warrant, which led to the search where a list of what was taken from Trump.

Pence also reminded his Republican colleagues that while they can hold the attorney general accountable for the decision, he said that Trump supporters should not attack the rank-and-file law enforcement personnel at the FBI.

Former Vice President Says He Would Consider Testifying Before the January 6 Committee

Mike Pence also talked about the January 6 Committee and said he still has not received an invitation to testify. However, when asked if he would testify, he said, "I would consider it."

He added that he still has to reflect on that unique role, as this would be an unprecedented event, as no vice president has ever been summoned to testify on Capitol Hill in history. Pence said he doesn't want to pre-judge, and if any formal invitation comes, he will give it "due consideration."

According to NBC 10 Boston, Pence also hinted at a possible run at the presidency during the event. He said he never really spent much time in New Hampshire. However, he said that someday, maybe he will. The former vice president is one of the big names expected to vie for the Republican nomination, along with Donald Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
