Cuban-American singer Gloria Estefan has become an official Barbie girl on her 65th birthday. She celebrated her birthday by announcing the introduction of a new Barbie doll inspired by her.

Estefan noted in a People report that "overjoyed is pretty much the word." She added that it was "incredibly special" for her despite winning every award there is.

The Cuban-American artist also recalled the times she played with Barbie as a little girl, which made having her own version of Barbie more special.

Estefan also detailed the creation process of her own barbie, saying that she actually sent her thigh-high boots and jacket so that the creators could see every detail needed. She said that they made sure the hair was right, even the minuscule details such as the jewelry and microphone.

Estefan said they ensure that her official Barbie is represented in a way that is important to her.

The music icon said in a statement to Billboard that she was honored to be partnering with Barbie to create a doll to her likeness, which is even more special as she celebrates her 65th birthday and before Hispanic Heritage month.

Estefan said that she wanted to make sure that they were being true to her multicultural roots, noting that she believes they did just that.

CBS News noted that Estefan's Barbie is featured with a jacket with golden detailing, including an oversized lace sleeve. It also has a soft leopard belt, thigh-high boots, and gold accessories to complete the look.

Estefan's 1989 music video for "Get on Your Feet" was chosen to work on what the Barbie doll would look like.

Designer Javier Meabe said that playing Estefan's music "was a must when working through the design process." Meabe said that he did take a few dance breaks.

Estefan said she wanted to emulate the torero jacket to her Barbie doll as her grandfather was from Asturias, Spain.

Order The Gloria Estefan Barbie

The collectible Barbie is currently selling for $55 and is available on Amazon and Target.

Interested buyers can also order at the Mattel Creations website, with the release of the product arriving ahead of Hispanic Month, which is September 15 to October 15.

Mattel Creations website noted that the pre-order for the Estefan Barbie dolls is limited to three per customer.

It can also ship on or before October 28.

The product includes the fashion and accessories of the doll, as well as a doll stand and Certificate of Authenticity.

It is the second doll in the Barbie Signature Music Series for 2022, while fifth overall.

Meabe said that creating the jacket and boots "are so fun" for his part. The designer added that the jacket has so much detail and the team wanted to make sure that they would really nail it.

Meabe said that they were able to look at Estefan's actual jacket in person, which helped them visualize the details of the jacket.
