When Sinaloa Cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera was arrested and extradited to the U.S., Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada and El Chapo's four sons, known as "Los Chapitos," were reportedly left in command of the Mexican drug cartel.

According to Insight Crime, El Chapo has dozens of children, but only these four figured prominently in the cartel's operations.

El Chapo Sons: Who Are the Los Chapitos?

The Los Chapitos are Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, and Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar. Under their leadership, the Sinaloa Cartel has continued to be one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels.

The U.S. State Department has already offered $5 million rewards for any information that could help federal agents arrest El Chapo's four sons. The State Department said the Los Chapitos are high-ranking members of the Sinaloa Cartel and are each subject to a federal indictment for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.

Their father's former right-hand man, El Mayo, was reportedly the Los Chapitos' internal enemy number one. El Chapo's sons have also been at odds with their uncle, Aureliano "El Guano" Guzman. El Chapo's brother is also a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel.

Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar, Known as Alfredillo

Jesus Alfredo Guzman Salazar was born in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico on February 3, 1983. He is regarded by many as the leader of Los Chapitos and responsible for coordinating the transport of narcotics from Central and South America to Mexico, as well as coordinating the transportation and distribution of drugs into the U.S.

The U.S. State Department said Alfredillo also collected drug proceeds from customers in the U.S. for transfer to Mexico for the benefit of Sinaloa Cartel members and associates. Some reports said he may have been responsible for various attacks and assassinations in Mexico in the past years following his father's arrest.

Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, Alias El Chapito

Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar is the full brother of Alfredillo and the half-brother of Joaquin Guzman Lopez and Ovidio Guzman Lopez.  Like his brothers, he was also taught the ins and outs of the narco trade at a young age.

Born in Zapopan, Jalisco on August 15, 1983, El Chapito had been involved in various crimes throughout his young life. He was previously arrested after his involvement in the murder of Canadian exchange student Kristen Deyell and her Mexican companion Cesar Augusto Pulido Mendoza.

However, he soon got out of prison after successfully appealing the verdict. Alfredillo and El Chapito's mother is Maria Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez.

Salazar Hernandez is El Chapo's first wife. They married in 1977. According to reports, she is a relative of Mexican drug kingpin Hector Luis Palma Salazar, an associate of El Chapo dating back to their time in the Guadalajara Cartel.

Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Alias El Raton

Born in Sinaloa on March 29, 1990, Ovidio Guzman Lopez is the youngest member of Los Chapitos, but that does not mean he's the least dangerous.

His power was demonstrated when members of the Mexican National Guard arrested him in October 2019. Members of the Sinaloa Cartel launched attacks all over the city of Culiacan and forced Mexican authorities to free him in order to prevent more bloodshed. One of the officers who led the arrest was also assassinated the following month.

Joaquin Guzman Lopez, Known as El Guero Moreno

Joaquin Guzman Lopez Jr. reportedly oversees approximately 11 methamphetamine labs in Sinaloa. Born in Sinaloa on July 16, 1986, El Guero Moreno produces an estimated 3,000-5,000 pounds of methamphetamine per month and sells it in the U.S. and Canada.

He started by purchasing drugs from suppliers in Argentina, Colombia, and other countries but has since moved to produce the drugs himself in Sinaloa.
