Kanye West got his Instagram and Twitter accounts locked for posting anti-Semitic tweets over the weekend. According to The Guardian, Kanye, who changed his name to Ye, recently came under fire for wearing a "White Lives Matter" t-shirt during Paris fashion week.

He also wore the shirt that the Anti-Defamation League refers to as a "hate slogan" on models. On its website, the league, which keeps an eye on violent radicals, said that white supremacist groups have been using the phrase. However, Kanye noted that he found the shirt "funny" and "the obvious thing to do."

"I said, 'I thought the shirt was a funny shirt; I thought the idea of me wearing it was funny,'" he told Fox News host Tucker Carlson. "And I said, 'Dad, why did you think it was funny?' He said, 'Just a Black man stating the obvious'," he added.

In the same interview, Kanye told Carlson that former president Donald Trump's Jewish son-in-law, Jared Kushner, negotiated peace deals in the Middle East "to make money."

It also received backlash as it was perceived as perpetuating Jewish stereotypes. The rapper has been open about his mental health problems since he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago.

Kanye West Instagram Got Restricted

A Meta representative confirmed that the company took down content from the rapper's @kanyewest-branded Instagram account. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the official also told THR that the account is still visible, but restriction has been placed on it.

Meta has a policy of limiting users who break the rules too often, which could mean the user cannot share posts, leave comments, or send direct messages for a while. However, the Meta rep did not clarify what was taken out or how long the restriction would last.

Kanye West recently posted on Instagram what he said was a conversation he had with Diddy, in which he allegedly used anti-Semitic language criticized by other social media users.

The post has been taken down since then. Advocacy group American Jewish Committee has also ripped Kanye West for his "rants laden with racist and antisemitic undertones" and "anti-Jewish posts."

Kanye West Twitter Got Restricted as Well

Kanye West went on Twitter on Friday night for the first time since November 2020. He tweeted, "Look at this Mark, How you gone kick me off instagram," with a blurry picture of himself and Meta's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, singing karaoke.

Meanwhile, Elon Musk, the future owner of Twitter, promptly intervened to welcome Kanye back to the service despite the controversial artist's most recent antisemitic statements.

However, the rapper seemed to have regarded Musk's gracious reception as green light as barely 12 hours later, he expanded on his antisemitic conspiracies in a tweet.

"I'm a bit sleepy tonight, but when I wake up, I'm going death [sic] con 3 On JEWISH PEOPLE," Kanye tweeted Saturday night." "You guys have toyed with me and tried to black ball anyone whoever opposes your agenda," he added.

Despite Elon Musk's endorsement, Twitter locked Kanye West's account and deleted the comment about anti-Jewish prejudices frequently expressed by white nationalists, a Twitter representative told TechCrunch.
