A photo of Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar, the son of Sinaloa cartel boss Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman Loera, is recently making rounds on social media.

According to Borderland Beat, Guzman Salazar, also known as "El Chapito," was with a woman named Citlali Morga in the photo. Morga was believed to have dated El Chapo's son.

Compared to other released images of Guzman Salazar, he looked basically the same. The outlet said the eyebrows, nose, and hairline are still the same.

Similar to his other photos, the shirt of El Chapo's son can be seen unbuttoned in the picture.

El Chapo's Son Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar Leads the Sinaloa Cartel With His Brothers

The four sons of El Chapo, known as Los Chapitos, had reportedly assumed leadership roles in the Sinaloa cartel after their father was arrested and extradited to the U.S.

Ivan Archivaldo Guzman Salazar and his brothers Ovidio Guzman Lopez, Joaquin Guzman Lopez, and Jesus Alfredo Guzman had allegedly shared control of the Sinaloa cartel along with their uncle Aureliano "El Guano" Guzman and co-founder Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada.

El Chapo has dozens of children, but only these four figured prominently in the Sinaloa cartel's operations.

Under their leadership, the Sinaloa cartel has continued to be one of Mexico's most powerful drug cartels.

Guzman Salazar is the full brother of Jesus Alfredo and the half-brother of Joaquin and Ovidio. Like his brothers, he was also taught the ins and outs of the narco trade at a young age.

Born in Zapopan, Jalisco, on August 15, 1983, El Chapito had been involved in various crimes throughout his young life. He was previously arrested after his involvement in the murder of Canadian exchange student Kristen Deyell and her Mexican companion Cesar Augusto Pulido Mendoza.

However, El Chapo's son got out of prison after successfully appealing the verdict.

Jesus Alfredo and El Chapito's mother is Maria Alejandrina Salazar Hernandez, the first wife of El Chapo. They married in 1977. According to reports, she is a relative of Mexican drug kingpin Hector Luis Palma Salazar, an associate of El Chapo dating back to their time in the Guadalajara Cartel.

Sinaloa Cartel Allies Sanctioned as the U.S. Cracks Down on Fentanyl

The United States government continued its crackdown on illegal drugs, with the Treasury Department announcing sanctions on various individuals with links to the Sinaloa cartel on Wednesday. According to Reuters, the announcement came after days of bilateral security talks between the U.S. and Mexico.

One of those targeted by those sanctions includes Juan Francisco Valenzuela and his family-run drug organization. They were suspected of transporting "multi-ton quantities of illicit drugs" from Mexico to the U.S. for the Sinaloa cartel.

Cartel members Hector Alfonso Araujo Peralta and Raul Rivas Chaires have also been sanctioned by the U.S. government, along with three Mexico-based transportation firms tied with facilitating the shipment of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, across the border,

The sanctions aim to starve the "network of resources" to help "deprive the Sinaloa cartel of critical support it needs," said Under Secretary of the Treasury for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence Brian E. Nelson.

In recent years, the Treasury said two Valenzuela siblings had already been detained, leaving Juan Francisco as the last sibling involved in the drug trafficking operations.
