A Florida man killed his girlfriend and three of her family members, including a 4-year-old girl, before shooting himself in the head to commit suicide early Friday morning.

According to the Orange County Sheriff's Office, another family member survived the attack of shooter Shavell Jordan Jones, 23, and fled to a neighbor's house, where police officers were called, New York Post reported.

In a press conference Friday afternoon, Orange County Sheriff John Mina said a 49-year-old woman, her two daughters, ages 28 and 29, and her 4-year-old grandchild were found dead inside a home on Myers Drive at around 4 a.m. They all had fatal gunshot wounds to the head.

Mina noted that Jones was in a relationship with the 29-year-old woman. He said the Florida man also shot himself in the head to commit suicide but survived. Jones had surgery to remove gun fragments from his skull on Friday afternoon.

According to Mina, two other little kids were in the house when the shooting started. They hid under their blankets as soon as they heard the gunfire, and both were safe.

Police said the woman, who was shot but was able to run to the neighbor's house for help, was the daughter of the 49-year-old. She was said to be in her twenties, but her medical status was not disclosed.

Florida Man Shavell Jordan Jones and Girlfriend Had an Argument the Night Before the Shooting

John Mina said Shavell Jordan Jones had a fight with his girlfriend at the house the previous night and then left. The sheriff noted that he returned early in the morning and started shooting everyone at the house before he tried to commit suicide.

Mina said the Florida man has never been in trouble with the law before, except for a misdemeanor failure to appear a few years ago. He noted that the sheriff's office has also never dealt with a case of domestic violence involving Jones and his girlfriend.

Mina said the 4-year-old who died and that child's twin, and the 6-year-old were all children of the woman who survived, NBC News reported. He noted that the Florida man had already packed up his things to leave but shot his girlfriend's family instead.

Mina said Jones will be facing multiple murder charges. He noted that the investigators "are going to work very, very hard to find some answers and put the pieces together so we can find out why this happened."

Florida Man Sister Says She Prays for the Family

"I understand he was drunk and whatever, but still, a kid?" said Shavell Jordan Jones' sister, who asked to remain anonymous.

"He's not this type of kid. He's not. He's always smiling. He's always at the house with family. He's always chillin', playing games with us. I just don't understand," she added.

The suspect's sister told FOX 35 that she wished she could redo what happened and was sorry for the family.

"I feel bad for the family. I pray for the family," she noted, adding that their family had already met the woman. She said Jones' girlfriend used to come over to their house and play "game nights" with them.

"She was a sweet girl. They seemed like they had the perfect relationship. That's why we're so in shock. I can't believe this," his sister told the outlet.

Neighbor Sharon Green told FOX 35 that since gunshots are so common in their neighborhood, she either did not hear or did not process the sound of the shooting overnight.

"Emotionally, it's scary, and it's hard knowing it happened right next door... Pretty much the whole family is gone in the blink of an eye," she added.
