After a seven-year absence, Mariah Carey made a comeback to the 96th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday. However, fans blasted her for "lip-syncing."

Daily Mail reported that Carey's sparkling return to Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was not received warmly. The outlet noted that fans were displeased by her alleged lip-syncing during her performance of "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the end of the New York City parade.

The crowd reportedly noticed that her vocals sounded very similar to the recorded version of the 1994 song. One fan wrote that the singer's "lip-synching" was so "blatant," adding that Carey does not "even try to hide it."

Another fan asked if Carey does not sing "for real anymore," while a third one wrote: "I wish I could get paid to stand and look cute lip-syncing like Mariah Carey... that chick sang not one note."

Following her appearance at the parade, fans were also quick to comment that the pop diva's performance was "lackluster," with one fan saying on Twitter that Mariah Carey is "getting millions right now to just stand there with her umbrella."

However, some fans shared their concerns for Carey as they believed she was terrified during her performance and seemed uneasy at the event, The Sun reported.

"Mariah Carey looked terrified and or animatronic in that parade at the end, hope she's okay wherever they're keeping the real Mariah," a fan tweeted.

Another fan agreed and wrote: "Is Mariah Carey ok?? She just stood there... like literally did not move!!! I'm confused & truly hope she's ok. I get that they are all lip-syncing. Just hope she's.. ok!?!?!"

The 52-year-old star, who has branded herself the "Queen of Christmas," performed while clad in a bejeweled crown and a red gown with a matching umbrella.

The pop diva's outfit was a tulle Cristian Siriano gown with a pencil skirt and a dramatic mermaid silhouette in a bright red hue.

Carey was surrounded by dancers dressed as nutcrackers for the performance, with her 11-year-old twins, whom she shared with her ex-husband Nick Cannon.

The parade also featured other performances, such as Paula Abdul, Gloria Estefan, Dione Warwick, Jordin Sparks, Lea Michele, Big Time Rush, Betty Who, Sean Paul, and Jimmy Fallon, among others. The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade aired live on NBC and Telemundo and streamed on Peacock.

Mariah Carey's Twins Appearance

Mariah Carey's twins, Monroe and Moroccan, made a cameo during their mother's performance for the Thanksgiving parade. Monroe wore a fairy costume with a tiara to match her mother's and a tutu. On the other hand, Moroccan wore a red sweater, black trousers, and a gold chain.

The pop diva shared the moment on her Instagram, saying that she was "grateful and so proud" of her twins, whom she called fondly "Roc" and "Roe." In 2016, Carey experienced technical problems during her New Year's Eve performance in Times Square.

It left her completely out of sync with her lip-synching track. She then stormed off the stage. Her backup dancers continued to perform but quickly became confused, leading Carey to say that "it is what it is" and "it just doesn't get any better," which was then followed by her walking off the stage.

After the set, Carey tried to shrug it off by writing on her Instagram that "s*** happens." The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade featured 28 floats, 12 marching bands, 700 clowns, and several performers.

A crowd of three million people reportedly gathered on Manhattan's streets to see the 96th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The attendance was believed to be more than 500,000 people than last year.
