Jennifer Lopez admitted that her split with Ben Affleck was so "painful" that she thought she was "going to die."

The 53-year-old Latina icon reflected on her rekindled relationship with the actor in a new interview with Apple Music 1. Page Six reported that Lopez recalled the pain she felt after they decided to end their first engagement in 2004.

The Latina pop diva told host Zane Lowe that it was the "biggest heartbreak" of her life after they called off that wedding 20 years ago.

"It was so painful after we broke up... I honestly felt like I was going to die... It sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right," Lopez said.

But despite the heartbreak, the "Marry Me" actress noted that she was glad that after 20 years, "it does have a happy ending," and "it has the most 'would never happen in Hollywood' ending."

On Friday, Lopez announced that she will release a new album called "This Is Me... Now," which included "Dear Ben pt. ll," a song inspired by her husband. The song title alluded to the "Dear Ben" ballad the Latina singer released in her 2002 album titled "This Is Me... Then."

According to Page Six, Lopez was engaged to Affleck when she released "This Is Me ... Then," and she dedicated the album to him before they broke up in 2004.

"Dear Ben" reportedly included romantic lyrics about the 50-year-old actor, such as "I love you, you're perfect, a manifestation of my dreams."

The Grammy nominee told Lowe that the new album's message was that "true love does exist and some things do last forever, and that's real."

"If you have, like me at times, lost hope, almost given up, don't... I want to put that message out into the world, and that does take a lot of vulnerability," she added.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Together Again

Bennifer, as the couple is known, initially met on the set of "Gigli" in 2002, where they played gangsters who fall in love. The film flopped at the box office, with critics claiming that Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck lacked chemistry.

But off-screen, it was a different story. Lopez divorced her second husband, Cris Judd, in June 2002, and soon after, she went public with the "Good Will Hunting" star.

By November, the "On The Floor" singer had a new ring on her finger. Affleck proposed with a six-carat pink diamond ring that had tiny white diamonds on the sides.

They would not specify when they fell in love, but Lopez has said they became friends first. Their supposed first wedding was scheduled for September 2003, but days before they said "I do," Bennifer called off the ceremony due to "excessive media attention."

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck rekindled their romance in April last year, shortly after the Latina superstar ended things with ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez. After one year of dating, the "Batman" actor popped the question for the second time.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Wedding

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's first wedding happened in a late-night Las Vegas drive-through chapel last July 16. The "Ain't Your Mama" singer confirmed their nuptials on her website and newsletter, "On the JLo," the next day.

Lopez and Affleck had their second wedding at the actor's estate in Riceboro, Georgia, on August 20. The three-day wedding celebration reportedly kicked off with a rehearsal dinner. The couple then tied the knot in front of family and celebrity friends before a barbecue on the next day.

Photos showed that Jennifer Lopez was dressed in a traditional wedding gown with a 20-foot-long train designed by Ralph Lauren.

Among the attendees were some Hollywood personalities, such as actor Matt Damon and his wife Luciana Barroso, as well as filmmaker Kevin Smith and his wife Jennifer Schwalbach.

Also in attendance were Jennifer Lopez's twins, Emme and Maximilian: and Ben Affleck's three children, Violet Anne, Seraphina Rose, and Samuel.
