The rental vehicles of the Secret Service caught fire in a parking lot on Monday just a day after U.S. President Joe Biden left his Nantucket vacation.

The Secret Service had five rental vehicles from Hertz to carry the president and his family. All five of those rental vehicles caught fire in the parking lot just after Biden spent thanksgiving on the Massachusetts island.

The footage of the rental vehicles bursting into flames was first obtained by the Nantucket Current, with the video showing firefighters spraying down the remains of one vehicle's engine block.

The five Secret Service vehicles were a Chevy Suburban, a Ford Explorer, an Infiniti QX80, a Ford Expedition, and a Jeep Gladiator.

The rental vehicles were seen parked at the Nantucket airport while the blaze was said to have spread to just 40 feet away from the facility's jet fuel tanks.

Meanwhile, the cause of the flame is currently unknown.

Secret Service Rental Vehicles

Fox News reported that the White House has yet to comment regarding the matter.

The airport said in a statement that an airport shift staff observed an active fire in the rental car overflow area through the airport's Closed Circuit Television System.

The airport added in its statement that the staff activated the Alert System and responded to the fire.

Nantucket Fire Department and Nantucket Police Department also responded to the scene.

The airport confirmed that there is no longer an active fire, with the airport still open and aeronautical operations are not affected.

However, several vehicles were damaged by the fire. The airport contacted rental car agencies and agency partners to ensure the scene safety at the time.

The incident is currently under investigation with the vehicles having been used by the president's Secret Service a day before it caught fire.

Joe Biden's Nantucket Vacation

The president's family has created a tradition of spending the Thanksgiving holiday on Nantucket.

Biden and First Lady Jill Biden left Washington on a Tuesday evening and had planned to return on Sunday, as reported by CBS News.

Before the family's Nantucket vacation, the president and first lady hosted the wedding of granddaughter Naomi Biden on the White House lawn.

The family also celebrated the president's 80th birthday at a Sunday brunch. It marks Biden as the oldest president in U.S. history.

White House Karine Jean-Pierre said that Biden will be having a private conversation with his family when she was asked whether the president will run again.

Biden and Jill started the Nantucket vacation tradition before they married in 1977. One of Biden's aides suggested spending the holiday on a Massachusetts island.

While he was at Nantucket, he visited the Nantucket Fire Department on Thanksgiving Day.

The previous year, the family stayed at a huge compound owned by David Rubenstein. He is known to be a billionaire philanthropist and co-founder of the Carlyle Group private equity firm.
