A 10-year-old Wisconsin boy, who shot and killed his mom after she did not buy him a virtual reality headset, was charged as an adult.

According to WTMJ, the fatal shooting happened near 87th and Hemlock at around 7 a.m. on November 21. Quiana Mann's son was reportedly not pleased when his mom woke him up early and did not let him have the virtual reality headset on Amazon.

Police initially believed the Wisconsin boy was twisting the gun around his finger when it accidentally went off and shot his 44-year-old mom in the face. However, investigators later learned that he got the keys to Mann's gun lock box the night before, Crime Online reported.

The boy allegedly told detectives that he meant to shoot at the wall to "scare" Mann while she was doing laundry in the basement. After shooting Mann in the face, the boy called his 26-year-old sister, who discovered their mom's body and called 911.

The next morning, the boy allegedly purchased an Oculus Virtual Reality Headset on Amazon through his mom's account. That same morning, his aunt brought him to his grandmother's house after he attacked his 7-year-old cousin to meet with child welfare workers.

When they arrived, the Wisconsin boy's grandmother was crying, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. According to his aunt, the boy suddenly said without empathy or compassion, "I'm really sorry for what happened. I'm sorry for killing my mom," before asking if his Amazon package had arrived.

His aunt said the boy never cried or showed remorse about his mom's death. The boy was allowed to remain with his family due to his age. However, the family contacted the police the following day due to some "serious concerns."

Wisconsin Boy Who Killed Mom for Not Buying Him a Virtual Reality Headset Has 'Rage Issues'

WTMJ reported that the family had been concerned with the Wisconsin boy's "rage issues" for some time. The family told police that when the boy was four years old, he swung the family's puppy by the tail until it howled in agony. They said his mom got rid of the dog as she feared it would attack the boy.

Because of the rage issues, his relatives noted that no family member would like to babysit him. Six months before the shooting, the Wisconsin boy allegedly filled a balloon with a flammable liquid and set it on fire in the home, causing a blast that burned the carpet and furniture.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that the boy told his mom he did it because his "two sisters told him to do it." His relatives said the boy has "five imaginary people" talking to him, which included the two sisters, an older woman, and two men.

WISN reported that Mann had placed cameras inside the home to watch the boy after a therapist gave the boy a "concerning diagnosis." But two weeks before the murder, these cameras had been unplugged by "someone."

Wisconsin Boy Charged With First-Degree Reckless Homicide

According to reports, the Wisconsin boy, who was publicly not identified, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide as an adult last week. He allegedly told investigators that he understood that guns can kill people.

The Wisconsin boy is being held in Milwaukee county's juvenile detention facility, and if convicted, he faces a maximum of 60 years in prison. The boy had his initial appearance in court on Friday, and a $50,000 cash bond was set. He is expected to appear in court again for a status hearing on December 7.

According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Wisconsin is one of only three states that require all 17-year-old defendants to be charged as adults. The state law also requires kids as young as 10 to be charged as adults for certain serious crimes, like first-degree intentional or reckless homicide.
