The FedEx driver, who allegedly kidnapped and killed 7-year-old Texas girl, Athena Strand, is facing more charges.

In addition to aggravated kidnapping and capital murder charges, Tanner Lynn Horner, 31, is facing three more counts of sexual assault of a child. However, CBS News reported that these new charges are unrelated to Strand's death.

While the kidnapping and killing of Strand happened in Wise County, the three counts of sexual assault of a minor have reportedly been filed in Tarrant County. It was related to a case that dates back to 2013.

Suspect FedEx Driver Claims He Struck Athena Strand With His Truck Accidentally

PEOPLE managed to get a copy of the affidavit, which showed Tanner Lynn Horner telling police that he accidentally backed his van into Athena Strand while delivering a Christmas package to their house on November 30.

He also told officers Strand was not seriously injured, but he was afraid her father would be upset with him for hitting her.

Horner, who delivered FedEx packages as a contract driver, admitted to panicking when he hit her, and this was when he decided to kill her. He admitted to the police that he killed her at the back of the FedEx delivery van.

Horner said he initially tried breaking the girl's neck, but when he could not do it, he just strangled her with "his bare hands."

Strand's stepmother looked for her after she went missing. On December 2, the girl's body was found in a river-side area some nine miles from her home.

Horner turned himself in and told the police where to find her body. A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Horner used to be an Uber driver and a musician before he started driving and delivering for FedEx.

After his arrest, a woman came forward, reiterating previous allegations that Horner had sexually assaulted her as a minor.

Shay Marie named Horner on her Facebook page as the person who allegedly raped her at 16 when Horner was 23.

"December 6th and 7th marks 7 years since you violated me and treated me like you were entitled to my body. 7 years. i was a child in a vulnerable state and you took advantage of that," Marie wrote last year, as PEOPLE reported.

However, it was unclear whether the new charges against Horner were related to Marie's case.

Athena Strand's Father Sues FedEx, Contractor, and Tanner Lynn Horner

FedEx has since cooperated with the investigation and offered its thoughts and prayers to the Strand family.

However, the father of Athena Strand, Jacob Strand, has sued not only Tanner Lynn Horner but also the delivery company and the contractor who hired Horner.

NBC News reported that the suit claimed that FedEx holds "significant control" over employees and contractors who deliver packages. Jacob accused FedEx and Big Topspin, the contractor who hired Horner, of negligence.

According to reports, Horner arrived at their home to deliver a Christmas gift from Maitland Gandy, the girl's mother. The package he delivered contained "You Can Be Anything" Barbie dolls,

Gandy said the girl was supposed to go back with her to Oklahoma as soon as Christmas break was over.
