FIFA, the world governing body of soccer, has lifted a ban on German Soccer coach Franz Beckenbauer. The ban came after he failed to answer questions about his alleged corruption.

According to Deutsche Welle, MHM, the company that looks after Beckenbauer's affairs, said in a statement issued Friday that FIFA had lifted the 90-day ban that was imposed on him in June.

FIFA imposed the ban on June 13, stating that Beckenbauer had failed to cooperate with investors who were looking into allegations that Quatar had paid bribes in order to secure votes in its bid for the 2022 World Cup.

Originally, he claimed to have denied answering the questions because he didn't understand the English legal terms. According the BBC, he was later offered to answer questions in his native German tongue, which he also denied.

Beckenbauer later complied with the request a few days later and agreed to answer to cooperate with the investigation led by American lawyer Michael Garcia. According to the South China Morning Post, on June 18 FIFA had received the answers.

"I under-estimated the matter,'' Beckenbauer said in the statement released by his manager Marcus Hoefl, blaming the fact that "such voluminous administrative things'' are usually dealt with by his management team. He also stated that, despite the ban being lifted, Beckbauer will not be traveling to Brazil for the World Cup.

Garcia will be looking into allegations that a Qatari soccer official made payments totalling £3 million to other officials in return for their support for the Qatar bid -- which was won. Garcia is due to submit his report in late July.

On June 19, Beckenbauer's manager tweeted: "For your information: The FIFA ethics commission this afternoon received the answers of Franz Beckenbauer to all their questions via mail and fax."

Beckenbauer has won the World Cup as both a coach and as a captain. He is now honorary president at the German soccer club Bayern Munich.
