Idaho murder suspect Bryan Kohberger reportedly messaged one of the four victims on Instagram weeks before the killings.

One account, which authorities believed to have belonged to Kohberger, sent a greeting to one of the female victims in late October, according to one source.

However, Kohberger did not get a reply, which led to him sending several more messages to her, as reported by People.

The source said that the message Kohberger sent to the victim was just, "hey, how are you?" but was sent over and over again.

Authorities said that the victim may have missed Kohberger's message completely as they were into message requests.

The source said that they are still trying to pinpoint how aware the victims were of his existence.

Instagram users are not notified when they receive a message from someone they do not follow. The messages are then sent into a message request folder, which is separated from the original folder where messages are usually seen.

The source said that there were no signs that Kohberger was getting frustrated with the lack of response from the victim's end, but that the accused suspect was "definitely persistent."

Bryan Kohberger Connection to Victims

The source said that it was unclear whether the lack of response from the girl was a motive for the Idaho murder.

One former Federal Bureau of Investigator said he believes Kohberger suffers from a symptom of the "incel complex."

Security expert Pete Yachmetz said that the Idaho killings may have been an effort "to assert some type of dominance," according to The New York Post.

Yachmetz went on to say that he believes Kohberger continued stabbing the victims as a sign of "uncontrollable rage and extreme anger."

The messages were sent from Kohberger's account at the same time that the detectives claim the suspect was stalking the victims. In addition, his cellphone data pinged in the same location as the four students in the weeks leading to their murders.

Kohberger was pursuing a criminology Ph.D. at Washington State University, which is 10 miles away from the University of Idaho.

He has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder and a county of felony burglary.

Idaho Murder Case

There were speculations that Kohberger attended the vigil for the four victims. It has now been debunked by new footage, showing the face of the man that online commenters mistook as Kohberger.

Meanwhile, Kohberger's public defender, Anne Taylor, requested on Thursday that his next court date be pushed back until June.

The prosecution agreed and the judge scheduled the preliminary hearing in June.

Families of Kaylee Gonclaves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin would have to wait six more months to see Kohberger in court.

The accused suspect will be housed at Latah County Jail after he was ordered to be held without any bail for a second time.
