Colombian actress Sofia Vergara's first husband was her high school sweetheart, Joe Gonzales.

Vergara made a name and fortune for herself when she was first spotted by a photographer on a Colombia beach when she was just 17 years old. That led her to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.

Before she became known in the United States, she hosted Colombian TV shows until her brother was murdered, and her family left Colombia to relocate to Miami, Florida.

She then started to land minor roles in American films and TV shows. According to Britannica, Vergara made her big break when she landed the role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the TV show "Modern Family." Aside from her rise to stardom, she also has a colorful dating life.

The Colombian actress said in a 2011 Parade interview that she was still close with her ex-husband. She added that her ex-husband sometimes stays with her when he visits the United States.

She added that it feels great "to look back" and know she has done it all by herself, describing the experience as "rewarding." After her divorce from Gonzales, she dated and became engaged to actor and director Nick Loeb. However, the two ended their engagement in 2014.

She addressed the breakup by saying that they had a conflict of schedules due to her work and his work, adding that it was "not fun anymore."

Loeb and Vergara had a legal battle regarding the use of their pre-frozen embryos. The court ruled that the two cannot use it without the written consent of the other person.

Pop Sugar reported that the Colombian actress also had a relationship with Chris Paciello, a Miami club entrepreneur in the late '90s. Paciello was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in a mob-related murder, which resulted in their fallout.

In 2005, Vergara was reportedly pursued by the "Top Gun" actor Tom Cruise. However, it was reported that the pair separated after it was made clear that she would have to convert to Scientology and renounce her Catholic faith.

Vergara met Joe Manganiello in 2014 after her engagement with Loeb ended. The two eventually got married in November 2015.
