In true Jay-Z and Beyonce form, the power couple kicked off their On the Run joint tour with a bang, and apparently Justin Bieber and a slew of other celebrities made an appearance on their big opening night.

Well, sort of.

The tour started in Miami on Wednesday night, and though much excitement and awe surrounded the performance, it also generated quite a bit of controversy -- over Justin Bieber's mughshot.

What does Justin Bieber's mugshot have to do with Jay-Z and Beyonce?

According to the U.K.'s Mirror Online, Justin Bieber's infamous mugshot was projected onto a giant screen during Jay-Z's performance of "H to the Izzo."

Bieber's mughshot was part of a series of celebrity mugshots displayed on the giant projection screen during that performance.

According to the New York Daily News, Jay-Z and Beyonce's mugshot montage kicked off with side-by-side shots of the married superstars, tying into their outlaw personas from the song "03 Bonnie and Clyde," followed by mugshots of the infamous bank-robbing couple. Then came a parade of other celebrity mugshots, including Robert Downey Jr., Sean "Diddy" Combs, Tupac and David Bowie.

Following the montage, Beyonce appeared onstage with Jay-Z to tell fans, "Even the greatest can fall."

Ouch.

So what did fans say about the controversial mugshot segment?

Some sided with Jay-Z and Beyonce, while others felt they were disrespectful in their approach to create a message.

Mirror UK reported that some fans called it disrespectful, saying, "Justin is gonna freak." Others agreed with the 32-year-old singer, tweeting, "She is totally right. Respect," and "She was proving a point, it was not an Insult."
