Juan Rivera opened up about how the family has tried to continue their lives after the death of his sister, Jenni Rivera.

Chiquis Rivera's 29th birthday was one example of that, notes La Opinion.

"We try to occasionally ease the pain, the emotions and our feelings...," he said. "There are only a few times the family can really smile and breathe calmly. Ever since my sister's accident, life has taken a new turn; every moment is reliving the things we did with her, it's a new feeling..."

This week Chiquis and her siblings, Jacquie, Michael and Johnny, will visit the Skid Row neighborhood in Los Angeles to give away clothes and food to the homeless people. On July 3, there will be a party that fans, family and friends will attend.

He put together a video for fans, and he expects criticism because it always happens.

"Everything we do we do with intense love for my sister and her fans," he said. "If we are criticized, well, all right, we are used to it. The criticism no longer hurts, it no longer bothers."

In the 18 months since Rivera's death, he said his family has had to deal with accusation and slander. He said that as her family, a group of people who love her, they have not been trying to use her name for money.

Other people have benefitted from her hard work more than they have, and he thinks that her children deserve the fruits from her labor.

He said that it's the Hispanic community that has been the most critical and that Michael Jackson's projects have not been received with as much negativity.

"The people who are most hateful with their own people are Latinos," he said. "I know that you are going to criticize me, but many people know that it's the truth..."
