Bill Cosby, the disgraced actor, and comedian, is facing a new sexual assault lawsuit in the state of Nevada. The lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for Nevada, represents nine women who allege that Cosby used his power, fame, and prestige to isolate and sexually assault them.

The women named in the lawsuit are Pam Joy Abeyta, Lili Bernard, Rebecca Cooper, Janice Dickinson, Linda Kirkpatrick, Janice Baker Kinney, Angela Leslie, Lise-Lotte Lublin, and Heidi Thomas.

Cosby was previously convicted of a criminal sexual assault charge in Pennsylvania in 2018. However, in 2021, the state Supreme Court overturned his conviction, releasing him from prison after serving nearly three years. Despite his legal troubles, the 85-year-old actor has expressed plans for a comedy tour.

In response to the new lawsuit, Cosby's spokesperson, Andrew Wyatt, released a statement to Variety confirming its existence and opposing the allegations against Cosby.

Cosby has consistently denied similar accusations brought against him throughout the years.

Bill Cosby Reportedly Drugged His Victims

Nine women have filed a lawsuit against Bill Cosby, alleging that Cosby gave them drugs or tainted drinks during encounters in Nevada and subsequently sexually assaulted them while drugged, CNN reports.

The incidents described in the lawsuit are said to have occurred between approximately 1979 and 1992.

According to the complaint, Cosby allegedly drugged or attempted to drug each of the women before sexually assaulting them.

Dickinson is a TV star and supermodel who previously testified against Cosby in his 2018 criminal trial in Pennsylvania.

The timing of the lawsuit is notable as it comes shortly after a new state law went into effect, removing the statute of limitations for most sexual assault cases. Like other states that have passed similar look-back laws, such as New York and California, Cosby also faces lawsuits in those jurisdictions.

In response to the new lawsuit, Cosby's publicist, Andrew Wyatt, referenced the recent changes in laws and expressed skepticism about the accusers' motives.

He stated that going forward, they will scrutinize and challenge the various allegations made against Cosby both in the court of public opinion and within the courtroom.

Nevada's New Law That Allowed Nine Women to Sue Bill Cosby

Nevada enacted SB129, a new law eliminating the civil statute of limitations in sexual abuse cases involving adults, on May 31, per The Daily Mail.

Before this law, alleged victims had to file lawsuits within a two-year time limit.

The passage of this law has allowed the nine plaintiffs in the case against Bill Cosby to pursue legal action for the alleged abuse they experienced at the hands of the entertainer several decades ago.

The elimination of the statute of limitations provides them with an opportunity to seek justice for the harm they claim to have suffered.

"In my opinion, these women are not victims of sexual assault; they are victims of greed," said Wyatt.
