Two young people died in a Baltimore mass shooting Sunday. It happened in a block party. Another 28 people were wounded. Three of them are currently in critical condition, according to authorities.

Baltimore police officers said that they responded to multiple calls regarding a shooting happening at around 12:35 a.m. on Sunday in the city's Brooklyn neighborhood.

CBS News reported that 18-year-old Aaliyah Gonzales was identified as one of those who died. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other fatality was identified as 20-year-old Kylis Fagbemi, who was pronounced dead a while later at a local hospital.

Baltimore officials held a news conference following the shooting, with acting Baltimore City Police Commissioner Richard Worley telling reporters that a total of 30 people suffered gunshot wounds during the attack. The ages of the victims ranged from 13 to 32 years old, with 14 of the victims all being minors below the age of 18.

So far, police have confirmed that there were at least two shooters who attacked the Baltimore block party. Authorities are now working to determine if there were more and are trying to find out who among the partygoers was targeted by the indiscriminate assault.

Mayor Brandon M. Scott Releases Statement on Baltimore Mass Shooting

Following the incident in Baltimore, Maryland, Mayor Brandon M. Scott stated that his heart goes to those who lost their lives in that mass shooting attack, as well as those who were injured. He added that the attack has "shaken our city to the very core, and we are all grappling with the shock, pain, and trauma that accompanies such a heinous act of destruction."

He also vowed to find those behind the assault and hold them accountable. He also said that they must also hold the illegal gun trade accountable before also slamming the gun industry.

As for those who suffered from the attack, the mayor stated that his Mayor's Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement will be working to address the trauma that residents suffered following the mass shooting. He stated that his office had sent resources to the Brooklyn Homes area, with the Brooklyn Homes Community Center now providing residents with immediate aid and services.

Investigation on Baltimore Mass Shooting Still Ongoing

So far, no suspect has been arrested yet. However, investigators are reviewing videos taken from the crime scene while talking to witnesses to see if they know who the shooters were.

Mayor Scott stated that there was a celebration in the area before shots were fired. He stated that the party was an event that happens in Brooklyn Homes every year.

As investigations are still going on, with police actively trying to find the shooters, authorities are asking anybody with information regarding the incident to come forward and contact the homicide unit by calling 410-396-2100. Those with information can also report tips anonymously to Metro Crime Stoppers. This can be done by phone or online.
