Yes, folks! Despite the original event going down in infamy, Fyre Festival 2 is actually happening, and the original Fyre Festival's disgraced organizer, Billy McFarland, is at its helm.

McFarland previously pleaded guilty to top fraud charges regarding the infamously-botched Fyre Festival, which overpromised and under-delivered when it was held in the Bahamas in 2017. He was sentenced to six years in federal prison in 2018 but is now out.

"This is a big day because, as of right now, Fyre Festival 2 tickets are officially on sale," he posted on TikTok. "It has been the absolute wildest journey to get here, and it really all started during the seven-month stint in solitary confinement."

McFarland stayed in federal prison but was placed in solitary in 2020 because he participated in a podcast while imprisoned. He was released early and was placed under house arrest in May 2022. According to the Los Angeles Times, he was released last September and has been planning a new Fyre Festival since.

Much like the original one, the disgraced promoter is promising that the event will be held in the Caribbean, though the acts that will be performing (or backing out) are still not known.

"Ultimately, we decided that Fyre Festival 2 is coming back to the Caribbean," McFarland said on TikTok. "We are targeting Fyre Festival 2 for the end of next year and, in the meantime, we will be doing pop-ups and events across the world."

Currently, Fyre Festival 2 is scheduled for December 6, 2024, though it remains unclear where exactly in the Caribbean it will be held.

Ja Rule Might Not Be Involved in Fyre Festival 2 This Time

Rapper Ja Rule was one of the co-founders of the original Fyre Festival and was also among those sued in the class-action lawsuit against the organizers. He was dropped from the lawsuit, and it is unclear if he is one of the organizers of this new event, which many already find to be questionable.

However, the rapper previously stated that should the event be revived, he would not have anything to do with it.

"I don't know nothing about it!" he exclaimed. "I don't know nothing about it. I ain't in it!"

Yahoo! Entertainment tried reaching out to Ja Rule but did not answer a request for comment. He has long maintained that much like those who bought tickets, he was also "scammed" and "bamboozled."

Fyre Festival 2 Tickets Cost As Much as $7,999

The original Fyre Festival was FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) at its finest, as festival attendees were promised lavish hotels and lots of music, only to find one of the worst-organized "festivals" in history. It was so bad that it not just became a meme but was also the subject of separate documentaries by Netflix and Hulu.

One of the biggest criticisms directed at the failed event organizers was the high price of the tickets. With this new Fyre Festival, however, tickets start at $499, with the most expensive being $7,999. These are now being sold by the event's official website.
