Police are continuing their search for the escaped Brazilian Murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante more than a week after he daringly escaped a Pennsylvania Prison. The convicted murderer has continued to evade authorities

Originally from Brazil, Danelo Souza Cavalcante escaped from the Chester County Prison on August 31 and has been on the loose since, frustrating police and search teams. Nervous residents around the Pennsylvania prison have stayed alert for any sign of the fugitive.

The Associated Press reported that the search parties looking for the escaped Brazilian murderer included not just local law enforcement but also tactical teams in full combat gear, tracking dogs, cops on horseback, and even aircraft. Still, Cavalcante managed to elude all of these, as well as eagle-eyed residents watching out for him.

"This is an outrage. It never should have happened," said Chester County District Attorney Deb Ryan. Meanwhile, Lt. Col. George Bivens of the Pennsylvania State Police noted that there had already been eight reported sightings of Cavalcante, with the latest being around Thursday afternoon.

Cavalcante was spotted by a civilian as he was running through an area near the county's most well-known botanical garden, the Longwood Gardens. Footage of the fugitive was captured by a surveillance camera in the garden and it showed him walking through the garden grounds Monday night.

After his prison escape, Sarah Brandão, the sister of his victim, Deborah Brandão, spoke out regarding the at-large Pennsylvania fugitive. Speaking with CNN, she stated that she is terrified about his escape and worried that he might also come after her.

"I haven't slept for many days. Since (his escape) I have been waking up with fright at night. I nap and wake up with fright," she said in the interview. She is currently taking care of her sister Deborah's two kids in addition to her own.

She also revealed that he used to be kind to her sister, Deborah. Because of this, they began dating for a year and a half. However, she admitted that he went from a nice neighbor to a jealous boyfriend soon after.

"She said he was nice to her, he was nice to her children, that he helped her," Sarah said. . "He kept her company. She didn't feel alone anymore." Sarah also noted that Cavalcante seemed normal but was "always very silent, observant and reserved."

Cavalcante then killed Deborah in April 2021. He stabbed her 38 times in front of her own children who were still 7 and 4 years old at that time. He was just convicted last month and was sentenced to life in prison.

Cavalcante may not have just killed his ex-girlfriend, but also another person in Brazil where is wanted for a murder that took place in 2017. The news of his Pennsylvania prison escape even became big news in his home country.

According to WMGK, Cavalcante may have killed Deborah to stop her from telling police that he is a wanted murderer in his home country. He reportedly escaped Brazil by using a false ID to board a plane to Puerto Rico. From there, he flew to Pennsylvania where he met and murdered Deborah.
