Escaped Brazilian murderer Danelo Souza Cavalcante still evades police, including K9 and heavily armed SWAT units, after his daring escape from a Pennsylvania prison. The manhunt continues but the family of his victims remain afraid, especially one of the victim's young children who saw him stab her mother to death right in front of her.

While Calvacante's daring prison escape made major news in both the US and Brazil and grabbed the imagination of the world, the family of his victim, Deborah Brandão, are scared and are at their wits' end.

Brandão's 7- and 4-year-old children saw what happened to their mother in front of their eyes and ran to their neighbors for help. According to CNN, the 7-year-old also told police that Cavalcante threatened to kill her too. She was screaming as the Brazil man continued to stab her mother but Cavalcante threw a rock at her and hit her leg. She and her sibling managed to escape into their neighbor's house.

Sarah, the victim's sister, stated that the Brazilian national "went from being a friendly neighbor to a jealous boyfriend." She noted that he may have murdered her sister to hide that he is also wanted in Brazil for a 2017 murder case.

Meanwhile, Pennsylvania District Attorney Deb Ryan stated, "This was a senseless tragedy that has impacted countless people due to the defendant's cold, calculated, and heinous actions." She added that "Ms. Brandão's children are now left motherless and she will never have the opportunity to watch her children grow up, finish school, or have families of their own."

Aside from the physical search of the convicted murderer, authorities are also sifting through hundreds of captured images from trail cameras around Longwood Gardens, one of the state's most popular botanical gardens.

As the search for the convicted criminal continues, the garden stated that it will stay closed until further notice, according to ABC 6 News. The garden also ordered those inside the property to shelter in place as a precaution.

Tactical teams in full combat gear, tracking dogs, cops on horseback, and helicopters have already been deployed to aid in the search for the Brazilian.

Pennsylvania Prison Guard Who Missed Danelo Souza Cavalcante Escape Has Been Fired

Cavalcante's escape from Chester County Prison was described as daring. The Brazilian scaled a wall by crab-walking up from the recreation yard before climbing over razor wire, going through the roof, and then jumping on the ground to freedom. This act went about undetected, and a prison guard is now fired for missing the escape.

According to the Associated Press, the guard was reportedly placed on administrative leave before his firing. It was also found that he had his personal cell phone with him as the escape took place. This is a violation of jail protocol.

The watchtower guard should have been able to see Cavalcante but missed him, according to county officials. It is not clear if the guard was on his phone as the escape happened.
