Escaped Brazilian murderer Danelo Cavalcante's capture ended a 2-week long manhunt that has been talked about by many. However, it looked like he was trying to flee to Canada, according to US Marshals.

Cavalcante was found by an aircraft after he tripped an anti-burglar alarm. He then hid in the woods of South Coventry Township, Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning before authorities surrounded him and let loose a search dog. He was captured after the dog bit him in the nether regions.

Robert Clark, supervisory deputy US marshal for Pennsylvania's eastern district, spoke with CNN and stated, "His endgame was to carjack somebody and to head north up to Canada and he intended to do that in the next 24 hours."

Clark noted that this was revealed in an interview with law enforcement officials just after his capture.

"He said the law enforcement presence where he was, was immense and he felt that he needed to leave," the US Mashal stated.

Danelo Cavalcante is now being held at the State Correctional Institution - Phoenix in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He will continue to serve a life sentence for his murder conviction there, but now, he is facing additional charges, including felony escape. He is set to appear in court again on September 27.

The Brazilian was previously convicted and sentenced for murdering his ex-girlfriend in front of her children. He is also wanted in his native Brazil for a 2017 murder case. His then-girlfriend found out, so he killed her.

He escaped by crab-walking up a wall of the prison that was previously holding him. The guard who missed his escape was suspended before being subsequently fired.

A Belgian Malinois Named Yoda Was Responsible for Brazilian Murderer Danelo Cavalcante's Capture

While the Pennsylvania neighborhood where he escaped to can now breathe a sigh of relief, many are also praising the goodest boy who finally took Danelo Cavalcante down, a Belgian Malinois named Yoda.

Cavalcante was taken in without any shots being fired, and this was all thanks to Yoda, who is now getting national praise for his actions. The 4-year-old Belgian Malinois prevented the escaped convict from using a .22 caliber rifle he had previously stolen from a home that he tied to hide in.

"He was just essential as far as the tracking and searching, as were numerous other K-9s that were here," Clark said. "All these K-9 resources were utilized by different tactical teams from the area, and they were just incredible resources."

Yoda reportedly bit Cavalcante twice as he was trying to escape. Clark explained that he is a "bite and hold" police dog and is trained to only release on command. Yoda first bit Cavalcante in the scalp and then again in the "lower extremity area" to keep him down.
