The Powerball jackpot just got even bigger. After reaching its fourth-highest jackpot in history, the jackpot is expected to go even higher to an estimated $835 million after no winner was declared for the draw last Monday night. According to CBS News, the winning numbers for Monday's drawing were 10, 12, 22, 36, and 50, with a Powerball of 4.

This new estimated $835 million is still the fourth-highest in history and may possibly even break the third-highest Powerball jackpot prize, which was worth around $1.08 billion. This was won earlier this year, with the winning ticket being sold in California.

Although nobody won the jackpot during the Monday draw, there were still four people who matched all five white balls and won prizes worth $1 million. Three of these $1 million-winning tickets were bought in Florida, while the fourth one was bought in Oregon. To win the jackpot, all six tickets, including the all-important Powerball, must be matched.

How to Play Powerball And Possibly Win the $835 Million Jackpot Prize

To play Powerball, one must purchase tickets worth $2 per play. For each ticket bought, players must choose five numbers from one to 69 for the white balls. If somebody gets all the white balls correctly, that player wins around $1 million.

To win "the big one," however, a player must then choose the Powerball number from one to 26. If a player cannot make up his or her mind, one can opt to receive random numbers instead.

According to USA Today, the lowest prize one can get is $4, with the second-highest being the $1 million prize for getting the five white balls correctly. The amount of money a player wins depends on the number of matched balls in the non-jackpot tiers.

Players can also opt to pay an additional dollar with the "Double Play" option, where players get another chance to match their numbers after each Powerball drawing. There is also the "Power Play" option that might double the winnings.

Meanwhile, Delaware Online reported that the next draw will happen on Wednesday, September 27, at around 10:59 PM Eastern Time.

Powerball draws happen thrice a week: every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday.

FTC Warns of Lottery Scams as Powerball Jackpot Prize Gets Bigger

As the prizes get bigger and bigger, whether it be for Powerball or Mega Millions, lottery scams have also been popping up to take advantage of players trying to win a ton of money.

The Federal Trade Commission is now warning people that these scammers usually call or send an email or letter to their victims and claim that they won sweepstakes, lottery, or prize. One can tell these messages might be scams as they ask them to pay money to access the winnings.

Powerball has been warning against these scams, with its official website advising, "Do not send money! If you are asked to pay a fee to claim a prize, you are likely being scammed." The website further explained, "This includes cashier's checks, money orders or any type of prepaid card."
