A Mexico woman died after an apparent shark attack left her bleeding to death off the Pacific Coast of Mexico, near the Port of Manzanillo in Jalisco State last Saturday.

According to the Yucatan Times, the shark attack happened in the morning, with Civil Protection agents and firefighters responding to the incident. The woman was pulled from a beach in Melaque Bay in Jalisco State, and she had no vital signs. She was then declared dead soon after.

Videos of rescuers attending to the Mexico woman soon on the beach made their rounds on social media. Those posts stated that she had no vital signs and her legs were severed due to an apparent shark attack. The videos themselves showed her being severely injured as onlookers watched.

Soon after she was declared dead by her rescuers, an investigation was launched. The local Public Security personnel soon closed the beach off. Reports indicated that the beach where the shark attack happened will be closed off until further notice as investigations continue.

More Details Surface as Mexico Woman Was Swimming With Her Young Son When Shark Attacked Her

A day after the fatal Mexico shark attack, Rafael Araiza, the head of the local civil defense office, spoke with reporters and revealed that the attack happened in the better-known beach town of Barra de Navidad. While he did not reveal the victim's name, he did state that she was 26 years old and was swimming with her five-year-old daughter when the shark bit her. She was also a resident of a nearby town.

The civil defense official noted that the victim was swimming with her young child toward a floating play platform about 75 feet (25 meters) from the shore when the attack occurred. He told reporters that as the woman was trying to boost her child aboard the floating platform, the shark finally attacked by biting into her hip and causing a massive wound.

Since the attack happened near the shore, rescuers were quick to respond. However, the woman soon died of blood loss, though her daughter was reportedly unharmed.

Shark attacks are relatively rare in Mexico, and this latest one has shocked local residents because of how rare these incidences are. It was not revealed what species of shark attacked her.

Another Mexico Shark Attack Happened in Cancun Earlier This Year

While shark attacks in Mexico are rare, they do happen, as seen in last weekend's incident in Jalisco. Another one also occurred earlier this year, and it actually happened to an American boy vacationing in Cancun for Spring Break.

The attack happened last March, and it happened to 10-year-old Colorado boy Dillon Armijo, according to ABC-7. The boy managed to survive and spoke with several media outlets regarding his harrowing brush with death, telling reporters he thought he would have died, saying, "It just felt like a bump, like a really sharp bump."

The Colorado boy was rescued quickly and underwent three surgeries, surviving the deadly attack.
