Miami Dolphins pass-rusher Bradley Chubb's season came to an abrupt end as he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN.

The devastating injury was confirmed by Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel on Monday following the team's 56-19 loss.

Bradley Chubb, a crucial part of the Dolphins' defensive lineup, went down late in the fourth quarter in a non-contact incident, leading to his immediate removal from the game.

Coach McDaniel faced scrutiny for keeping Chubb and other defensive starters on the field during a decisive loss, prompting regret and acknowledgment that, in hindsight, the decision may not have been the wisest.

"I mean, in hindsight, I would absolutely not have wanted him out there if I would've known that he was going to get hurt. ... It doesn't look very smart at all," Coach McDaniel said.

The coach also said he needed a "time machine" to alter the unfortunate outcome.

Bradley Chubb Injury History and Impact on Dolphins

This marks the second time in Chubb's career that he has torn his ACL, per Bleacher Report.

The first instance occurred in September 2019 while he played for the Denver Broncos, causing him to miss a significant portion of that season.

Bradley Chubb's impact on the Dolphins' defense this season has been substantial, with impressive stats, including 68 tackles, 11 sacks, and six forced fumbles.

The timing of Bradley Chubb injury, considering the state of the game, raised questions about the decision to have him on the field.

Coach McDaniel acknowledged the hindsight regret, emphasizing that knowing the outcome, he wouldn't have wanted Chubb to continue playing in that situation.

With the loss to the Ravens, the Dolphins missed the chance to secure the top seed in the AFC.

Despite this setback, the team still has an opportunity to clinch the AFC East in a critical Week 18 matchup against the Buffalo Bills.

Additional Injuries Add to Dolphins' Challenges

The Dolphins' woes extended beyond Bradley Chubb injury, as they faced a series of setbacks during the Ravens game, CBS Sports reported.

Cornerback Xavien Howard suffered a foot injury early in the game and is unlikely to be available for Week 18, according to Coach McDaniel.

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa also suffered a shoulder injury, rendering him questionable about returning.

While Tagovailoa expressed being "just sore," the extent of his availability for the upcoming game remains uncertain.

The Dolphins were already without key players, including running back Raheem Mostert, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, who is out for the season with a torn Achilles.

The team faces the prospect of playing crucial games shorthanded, raising concerns about their postseason prospects.

As the Dolphins navigate these challenges, the loss of Bradley Chubb poses a significant hurdle, leaving them with uncertainties in their defensive lineup heading into critical matchups.

The team's resilience and overcoming these setbacks will be closely watched in the coming weeks.
