Grand Theft Auto Online players can now celebrate the Fourth of July with Rockstar Games' The Independence Day Special update, which dropped on Tuesday.

"Demonstrate your exceptionalism and own the road from sea to shining sea with two new star spangled rides, the Sovereign motorcycle and the super-sized Liberator monster truck," the game developer announced via its Newswire page. "And protect your rights the same way our Founding Fathers did with the latest addition to Ammu-Nation's antiques collection, the high-powered Musket... or channel your inner Jack Howitzer with the spectacular Firework Rocket Launcher."

The new items will be available in the online version of Grand Theft Auto V until mid-July (Rockstar Games promised to announce a specific end date "soon"). This includes patriotic clothing, the "backwoods mullet" and eagle animal masks.

"Seven new properties have also been added to the Dynasty 8 rolls ... that provide plenty of yard space to scorch the grass with your very own Fireworks show," Rockstar Games added. "Use up to 12 varieties with different fuse lengths ..."

More Fourth of July fun comes in the addition of the Ferris Whale and Leviathan Roller Coaster at Pleasure Pier. In addition, The Independence Day Special adds crate drops, 17 new Jobs and the introduction of On Call Matchmaking.

"This new option allows players to accept a Job invite and continue playing in Freemode until that Job fills up, reducing time spent idle while waiting for a Job to start," Rockstar Games explained.

Rockstar Games also said they would provide details on their "4-day Independence Day Weekend Event" on Wednesday, but nothing has been revealed at the time of writing.

Despite the dropping of a Fourth of July update, Rockstar Games has yet to announce anything on the highly-anticipated Heists update, which the game developer promised yet failed to release by "this spring."

"We know many fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of the Online Heists that we had planned to release for you this spring, and they are taking more time to create than originally anticipated," Rockstar Games said via Newswire in mid-June. "We are very sorry for the delay and are working hard to bring them to you as soon as we can."
