The 2024 edition of the Academy Awards has concluded with some very big wins for Oppenheimer. However, just like every year, 2024 also has its fair share of Oscar snubs, with fans saying that they deserve to win.

While many agreed that Oppenheimer winning Best Picture and Godzilla Minus One winning Best Visual Effects was well-deserved, many are saying Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron should not have won Best Animated Feature Film, or it should not have been Emma Stone who won Best Actress that night.

5 Massive Oscar Snubs for the Academy Awards 2024

There were plenty of deserved wins on Oscars night, that is for certain. However, fans of the other works cannot help but feel that their favorites were robbed that night, and they include some very notable examples.

Lily Gladstone - Best Actress, Killers of the Flower Moon

In what is perhaps one of the tightest races in Academy Awards history, Lily Gladstone and eventual winner Emma Stone created a rivalry of sorts over the awards show season by trading wins. However, many believe that Stone, now a two-time Oscar winner, should not have won last night and that Gladstone, should have won and becomr the first Native American to win Oscar's Best Actress.

Killers of the Flower Moon - Various Other Awards

While the biggest snub for this Martin Scorsese film was Lily Gladstone, the movie as a whole was snubbed and missed out on a lot of wins it could have gotten. According to Billboard, it came in with 10 nominations for the night but won absolutely nothing. Many of those awards came when going up against the night's biggest winner, Oppenheimer, including Best Picture and Best Director.

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse - Best Animated Feature Film

This one has the internet angry as many felt that the Best Animated Feature Film Oscar should have gone to Spider-Verse. The sentiment was echoed by Miles Morales voice actor Shameik Moore, saying that the film was robbed, losing to Hayao Miyazaki's The Boy and the Heron. Many fans agreed. However, Moore did backtrack and admitted he was a sore loser, though acknowledged the outcry that came out of Spider-Verse's Oscars snub.

Barbie - Best Adapted Screenplay

While Greta Gerwig being snubbed for not being nominated for Best Director is an issue in and of itself, many also felt that Barbie should have won the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay but instead went to American Fiction. Many felt that the award should have been given to Gerwig for not being nominated for Best Director in the first place.

Bradley Cooper and Maestro - Various Other Awards

Bradley Cooper's Maestro continues the actor-turned-director's Oscars losing streak to 0-12. As Variety pointed out, Cooper lost all three of his nominations for acting in, writing, and producing "Maestro."
