The Alexander Smirnov scandal has thrown the Joe Biden impeachment inquiry into question despite Republican lawmakers doubling down that they still have a case. However, rightwing pundit Tomi Lahren has just admitted on Fox News that the impeachment inquiry is now dead in the water after the witness Republicans have been saying would bring down the Bidens turned out to be lying and was coached by Russian intelligence agents.

"I gotta say, as somebody who does believe there's plenty of evidence here, I think that this has failed optically for Republicans," Lahren said, despite the impeachment inquiry being built on outed Russian operative Alexander Smirnov's questionable testimony,

She also admitted, "Optically, it does make it seem as though they're beating up on someone with addiction issues, as a reference to presidential son Hunter Biden's history of drug addiction. "That's exactly what the media wanted it to look like. That's how they framed it. And unfortunately, that's what's coming to fruition."

She added that Republicans should now focus on the elections and attack Joe Biden's policies instead of the impeachment inquiry, which she described as "falling flat" with both viewers and voters.

According to Yahoo! News, Democrats picked up on this admission, with California's Rep. Eric Swalwell retweeting a clip of the Fox News segment that Lahren appeared in, posting, "That's all she wrote folks. Even crazy Tomi Lahren thinks this thing is over."

Republican Star Witness Alexander Smirnov Was Paid by US Firm Tied to Donald Trump Associates

Meanwhile, a bombshell report on the Republicans' star witness against Joe Biden has revealed that US firms with ties to known associates of former President Donald Trump were paying him around the same time he was lying to the FBI about Ukrainian company Burisma paying Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden.

A report from The Guardian revealed that Smirnov was paid $600,000 by Texas company Economic Transformation Technologies (ETT). Its CEO is Christopher Condon, who is a 33% shareholder in ETT Investment Holdin, along with two known Trump associates, Shahal Khan and Farooq Arjomand.

Smirnov's association with ETT has further thrown his testimony into question, as ETT shareholder Khan is an investor in several Trump properties, while Arjomand h has ties with the former president through Trump associates and Damac, a major Middle East developer that has partnered with Trump for a decade.

Prior Case Called Star Witness in Joe Biden Impeachment Inquiry, Alexander Smirnov, a 'Fraudster'

Aside from Smirnov's alleged ties with the former president's associates being revealed, a previous case has also shown that Republican star witness Alexander Smirnov also had a history of fraud.

CBS News reported that federal prosecutors were informed back in 2016 that Alexander Smirnov was a known "liar and a fraudster." There were already doubts about his credibility, as he was accused of lying to the FBI in that previous case, which happened before it was revealed that Smirnov was lying to Republicans and the FBI over the Biden impeachment inquiry.

The mounting questions on Smirnov's credibility may trigger an audit of every case he was involved in. The outed Russian operative was working as an informant for the FBI before he made claims about the Bidens, leading to the impeachment inquiry.
