The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) has identified the operator of the boat involved in the tragic death of 15-year-old Ella Adler, who was struck while water skiing in Biscayne Bay over the weekend.

Florida man Carlos Guillermo Alonso, 78, of Coral Gables, was identified as the boat's operator during the incident.

According to reports, Alonso was the sole occupant of the vessel at the time of the accident, CBS News reports.

The preliminary FWC report indicates that a Florida teen was among a group of 12 individuals on a boat, enjoying recreational activities. Ella was being towed on a wakeboard when the tragic collision occurred.

Alonso's boat reportedly struck Ella, who was in the water, further away from the boat, towing her.

Despite efforts to save her, Ella succumbed to her injuries.

Search and Discovery

FWC investigators launched a search for the striking vessel following the boat crash incident.

With the help of witness descriptions, they were able to locate the boat docked behind Alonso's residence in Coral Gables.

Upon discovery, the vessel was seized and towed to Port Everglades in Broward for further investigation, a 2020 42-foot Boston Whaler, was seized by authorities.

The Florida man is said to be cooperating with authorities in the continuing investigation, according to The Hill.
