Reuters reported that Israel has apprehended six Jewish suspects accused of having involvement in the recent murder of a Palestinian teenager.

Earlier this week, 16-year-old Mohammed Abu Khudair's body was found in a Jerusalem forest. Evidence has shown he was beaten and burnt to death.

An anonymous Israeli government official has said that the motive of the abduction and murder of the Palestinian youth was "nationalistic." It is strongly suspected to be a revenge killing for the kidnapping and killing of three Israeli teenagers in June.

On June 12, 16-year-olds Naftali Fraenkel and Gil-Ad Shaer and 19-year old Eyal Yifrah disappeared after hitchhiking in the West Bank. Their bodies were recovered on Monday.

Tensions between Israel and Palestine have risen in the past month with Israel blaming the deaths of the Israeli teens on the Islamic organization Hamas. Hamas has not denied or admitted involvement in the murders.

Israel has since conducted a series of airstrikes on the Gaza Strip where Hamas remains a dominant force, attacking 10 Palestinian sites in reported response to terrorist strikes against Israeli communities.

The death of a Palestinian teen has not helped to ease conflicts between Israel and Palestine. Violent protests and riots have broken out in East Jerusalem, as well as in Arab towns in northern Israel.

Israeli Prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu commented on the unrest during a cabinet meeting Sunday, urging citizens to keep calm.

"We are working on several fronts simultaneously. Experience proves that at such times we must act responsibly and with equanimity, not hastily," he said. "[Israel] will do whatever is necessary to restore quiet and security to the south."

Israeli action has also resulted in the arrest of a Palestinian-American. 15-year-old Tariq Khdeir, who was a cousin of Mohammed Abu Khudair, was reportedly arrested and beaten during a protest by Israeli police.

Khdeir has since been released and placed under temporary house arrest.
