The days have seemingly crawled by as Apple-philes across the country eagerly await the next incarnation of the mega-popular iPhone brand. All reports indicate that we are in the homestretch, however, as the iPhone 5S is likely only two weeks away from debuting.

So far many sources on the internet have cited Sept. 10 as the most probable release date for the next iPhone. Though Apple has not given any confirmation of this, they are planning an event for that day and have been scheduling the beta version of their new iOS 7 operating system to be done by early September.

"Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software, and services that we can't wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014," said Apple CEO Tim Cook.

There are also now talks that a major Japanese carrier is in talks with Apple to start selling the iPhone. NTT Docomo, the largest phone carrier in Japan, has been negotiating with Apple for awhile now, however one of their problems currently has been that rumored September 10th release date.

"It would be difficult to start sales on the 10th. Docomo is ready but the timing is the problem," NTT Docomo senior executive vice president Kazuto Tsubouchi said in an interview with Japan's Sankie Shimbun.

But the rumor mill doesn't stop churning there. There have been whispers in the iOS developer community that Apple has already finished its beta testing and is about to release the Gold Master edition of iOS 7. There is also the issue of a couple of brand-spanking colors for the traditionally black or white iPhone.

"Last week, the Internet was ablaze when AllThingsD and TechCrunch confirmed what had been rumored for months: Apple will release a gold-colored iPhone. But the new colors don't stop there. On Monday, Sonny Dickson reported that the iPhone 5S 'may' also come in grey or 'graphite' with white panels," reports the Huffington Post.
