"In space, no one can hear you scream" is the tagline for the 1979 Ridley Scott-directed film "Alien." In the prequel film "Prometheus" (2012), also directed by Scott, their tagline was "The search for our beginning could lead to our end." Searching for the return of the "Prometheus 2" prequel-sequel could be our end indeed.

There was news released late last month that could put "Prometheus 2" drifting into space; it involves Guy Pearce, Scott and Matt Damon. Blame Damon (just kidding).

Pearce, who was promoting the film "The Rover," which stars him along with Robert Pattinson, stated that he is interested in returning to play Peter Weyland, and he is excited and enthusiastic about working with Scott again, if that is indeed possible.

"I think it's possible. I just think it may not be for Peter Weyland. I mean, who knows? When you look at science fiction and the ways in which you can cut the pie and things can develop, technologically speaking, etcetera, anything's possible, really, isn't it?" Pearce said, IGN reported.

Spoilers!

Pearce's Weyland died in "Prometheus." But Pearce is optimistic that Weyland could return in some way.

As far as Scott is concerned, he just added a new project to his film card, "The Martian," starring Matt Damon. "The Martian" is about an astronaut who gets accidentally left behind by his crew, on the surface of  Mars. Damon's character must survive on the Red Planet, Venture Capitol Post reported. The film is based on a book that Simon Kinberg, producer and screenwriter for "X-Men: Days of Future Past," had suggested to Scott.

"The Martian" will put Scott's scheduling and availability in direct conflict with the expected filming of "Prometheus 2." Both the prequel-sequel and "The Martian" will begin filming in the fall of this year, IndieWire reported. Scott perhaps cannot film both.

And, both director and producer, Scott and Kinberg, are in high demand. Scott is set to release "Exodus: Gods and Kings" in December, while Kinberg, with the success of "X-Men: Days Of Future Past," is busy with "The Fantastic Four" reboot, and writing and producing a "Star Wars" film, IndieWire reported.

It appears that "Prometheus 2" might be stalled. However, here are five things that we know so far.

Where: At the end of last month, Scott was reportedly searching for film locations in Australia for what is believed to be "Prometheus 2," Venture Capitol Post reported.

Who: Michael Fassbender let it slip, while promoting "X-Men: Days of Future Past," that he is involved in the "Prometheus 2" film project. It has also been reported that Noomi Rapace, Sigourney Weaver, and some former "Alien" stars will be part of the project. Also penning the script is Michael Green, the writer for "The Green Lantern," and the upcoming "Blade Runner" reboot film.

What: it supposedly has Fassbender playing multiple "David" robots; there is a time-travel element, and it could feature something more "alien-y."

Why: "Prometheus" made $400 million worldwide. This has made it Fox's top priority.

When: That is the million dollar question. With "The Martian" scheduled to start filming in the fall, there have been reports that Scott was going to start filming "Prometheus 2" this fall as well, it seems unlikely that both can be done at the same time.

"The Martian" is expected to be released in March 2015, while "Prometheus 2" was scheduled for a March 2016 release.
