A developer e-mail has now confirmed what basically everyone knew all along: the new iOS 7 will be available to the public Sept. 10. Though that has long been the rumored date for the release, there has now been (semi) official word as well.

An e-mail from the Nuance Mobile team has surfaced which clearly indicates the Sept. 10 date. Nuance works very closely with Apple and it is believed that they would be privvy to any information Apple has at this point, so it's safe to say that if Nuance is saying it, it's official.

"Today, a developer named Owen Williams received an email indicating that iOS 7 would be released to the general public on the 10th, giving non-developers their first peek at the controversial operating system. The email comes from Nuance, which works closely enough with Apple to know the date in advance," reports theverge.com.

This news comes on the heels of reports that the Gold Master beta program for iOS 7 is ready to be released. That speculation came by virtue of the fact that so far there has been no release of beta 7. Techies speculate that's because Apple is confident enough to wait and release the Gold Master beta, which will essentially be the same as iOS 7.

"After checking to see if iOS 7 beta 7 is live or any other update I got this message while checking OTA. It basically states that an error occurred while checking for a software update, so you are unable to check for an update," says one U.K. developer.

The beta editions have so far offered us quite the first glimpse into what we can expect with this next generation of Apple. There have been some high points along with the bad. While people seem to have enjoyed the layout and are looking forward to enhanced Siri functionality, the color palette and e-mail functionality have drawn harsh criticism.

"iOS can't create groups of contacts, and it can't send email messages to a group synced from your Mac or PC. Both are nutty omissions, given how fundamental groups are to email and other communications. Worse, if you select a group as an addressee in Mail, you get a list of the members, of whom you can pick one and only one to add to the To or Cc field of your message," reports Gruman.

We will not know definitively what the final product of iOS 7 will look like until Apple releases it to the public Sept. 10, but judging from the reactions to the beta releases so far, people are excited to find out. Stay tuned for more coverage as we are less than two weeks away from the big reveal.
