According to the latest rumors, Maksim Chmerkovskiy may return to "Dancing With the Stars" in the fall with a new role.

An anonymous Life & Style "insider" claims that Chmerkovskiy, who won Season 18 with celebrity partner Meryl Davis, may be sitting at the judges table next season.

"Maks really, really wants to be a judge," the source said

Len Goodman, who has been a judge on "Dancing With the Stars" since Season 1, has previously stated that Season 18 would be his last, according to Life & Style.

"[Chmerkovskiy is] just waiting to see what Len decides before he makes his announcement," the source continued.

In a recent interview with the magazine, Chmerkovskiy seemed to confirm at least some parts of the report.

"Len and I will get together and think about [whether I will return]," the dancer said.

Chmerkovskiy, 34, has been considering giving up on the fight for the mirrorball trophy because of exhaustion.

"When the season's over, I'm depleted," he said. "I have nothing left."

"Dancing With the Stars" showrunner Rob Wade, who is returning to the show for Season 19 after being gone since Season 11, recently spoke about how Chmerkovskiy can continue to participate in the ABC show.

"I don't know [if Chmerkovskiy will return]," Wade told E! News. "I've just come back to the show, but I was on the show in Season 1 and Maks came on in Season 2. So I've known Maks for 10 years now, and he's a very good friend. I'm absolutely hoping Maks comes back to the show. I don't know whether it's going to be as a dancer. I think there's a number of different things we can talk to him about and the way he'd be involved in the show. Maks will always be part of 'Dancing With the Stars' in some way."

The next season of "Dancing With the Stars" begins Sept. 15.
