Johnny Manziel has yet to play a single game in the National Football League, but the Cleveland Browns rookie is already making headlines in terms of jersey sales.

The NFL announced on Monday that Manziel's No. 2 jersey was the best-selling jersey during the first quarter of NFL's fiscal year, edging more-celebrated players in the league.

Manziel, the 22nd overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, became the first Browns to top the jersey-sales list since the NFL started tracking sales of individual jerseys. Former Browns quarterback Brady Quinn went second in the pre-season sales in 2007.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson ended up second in the list, while San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick ended up third. Denver Broncos veteran QB Peyton Manning and Seahawks cornerback round up the top five respectively.

Sherman, who made a lot of noise online with his post-game rant after their win against the 49ers in the NFC Championship last season, is only one of two defensive players in the top 10.

Rookie defensive end Michael Sam, who is the first openly gay player to be selected in the NFL Draft, is the other defensive player on the list, taking the sixth spot in the first-quarter sales.

Below is the top 10 selling NFL jerseys:

  1. Johnny Manziel (Cleveland Browns)
  2. Russel Wilson (Seattle Seahawks)
  3. Colin Kaepernick (San Francisco 49ers)
  4. Peyton Manning (Denver Broncos)
  5. Richard Sherman (Seattle Seahawks)
  6. Michael Sam (St. Louis Rams)
  7. Tom Brady (New England Patriots)
  8. Drew Bees (New Orleans Saints)
  9. Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers)
  10. 12th Fan (Seattle Seahawks)

Unsurprisingly, the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks and their NFC Championship opponent, the 49ers, were the top two best-selling teams. Manziel's popularity pushed the Browns to third spot.

Outside of Wilson and Sherman, three other Seahawks jerseys barged into the top 25 -- the "12th Fan" jersey at No. 10, Marshawn Lynch's jersey at No. 11, and Earl Thomas' jersey at No. 20.

Rookies Teddy Bridgewater of the Minnesota Vikings, Jadeveon Clowney of the Houston Texans, and Blake Bortles of the Jacksonville Jaguars were 13th, 16th, and 18th on the list respectively.
