Phoebe Buffay is headed to the White House.

According to Deadline, 'Friends' actress Lisa Kudrow has been cast in a recurring role for Season 3 of Shonda Rhimes's ABC drama 'Scandal.' Details on what exact role she'll play haven't been revealed, aside from her playing a politician.

Kudrow will join long-time producing partner Dan Bucatinsky on the D.C. based show, Deadline reports. Bucatinsky co-produced and starred on Kudrow's short-lived HBO comedy 'The Comeback' in 2005. The actor-producer duo also created Showtime's web-to-TV series 'Web Therapy,' which first premiered online in 2008, and TLC's 'Who Do You Think You Are?'

Bucatinsky plays James Novak, a gay journalist and the anguished husband of Cyrus. His portrayal of Novak in Season 2 garnered him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama.

Kudrow and her fellow 'Friends' alum Matthew Perry were interviewed on CNN's 'Piers Morgan Tonight' last month, where they discussed their time on the popular NBC sitcom. Kudrow mentioned that she wished the show, which also starred Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Courtney Cox and Matt LeBlanc, hadn't ended back in 2004.

"There would have come a time anyway when someone would have said, 'We've had enough,'" Kudrow said. "But why not have fun until they do?"

Kudrow's casting on 'Scandal' marks her biggest acting commitment in a while.

On 'Scandal,' Kerry Washington stars as Olivia Pope, a former White House Communications Director who runs a crisis management firm. Washington was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama for her portrayal. If she wins the award in September, she would be the first African American woman to do so.

'Scandal' premieres Oct. 3 on ABC.
