Two men armed with guns forced a woman into the back of her SUV, drove off with it and later lost control. The men hit a corner near a fruit stand killing three children and critically injuring three other people Friday.

The carjacking of the woman's SUV took place about a mile from where the vehicle ending up crashing after it jumped the curb in the Tioga section of north Philadelphia at the intersections of Germantown and Allegheny, Homicide Capt. James Clark said.

"Something obviously went horribly wrong at this intersection," he said. "The vehicle went out of control."

The white Toyota SUV ran a red light before crashing at the intersection.

One of the children killed was pronounced dead at the scene while the other died at the hospital. The three victims were said to be siblings and were aged 7, 10 and 15. Their mother was critically injured.

The other three hit by the vehicle were a child, a woman and a man. Those victims sustained critical injuries and are at separate hospitals.

The two men with responsible for the hijacking and crash fled the scene and are being sought by police. Officials said a $60,000 reward would be offered for assistance in finding them.

Earlier reports said that only 2 children were killed.

The men are described as one black male and a Hispanic male, both wearing white t-shirts.

Police asked nearby businesses with cameras to help them with any footage they may have on their surveillance tapes.

Police are also asking for help from any witnesses in the area.

"Bottom line, we will use all the resources we have at our disposal, that's the bottom line," Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said.

At least two of the surviving victims were being treated at Temple Hospital, spokesman Jeremy Walter told the Los Angeles Times.
