'Fifty Shades of Grey' News, Cast and Release Date: Rita Ora Talks Dakota Johnson, Jamie Dornan and 'Visually' Accurate Movie [Watch]
Rita Ora plays Mia Grey in the upcoming "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie. The British singer does not have much acting experience, and according to her, it showed.
First, Ora was surprised at how many callbacks she had to endure: a total of eight, according to "Access Hollywood."
"Being new to the world of auditioning, for actors this may be a recurring thing, but I didn't know there were so many callbacks," she told the show.
The auditions were a stressful time for the "How We Do" singer.
"I was a bit kind of like stressed out during the audition process," she shared."When I got that phone call, I was so happy, you know. I couldn't wait to tell everybody."
Working on set was difficult for Ora as well. Mastering her English accent did not come easily.
"[It was] incredibly difficult ... I have to have someone in my ear on set telling me what to say before I said it because I was honestly like so nervous I forgot everything I learned," she explained.
Luckily for Ora she had the help of co-star Dakota Johnson ("Need for Speed"), who stars as Anastasia Steele.
"She's a great friend of mine; she really eased me," Ora said. "She was really nice to take care of me."
Ora also addressed fan concern over the new look of Jamie Dornan ("Once Upon a Time"), who stars as Christian Grey, Mia's brother. In the movie, Dornan breaks from his signature beard and sports a clean-shaven face.
"Is it bad to say I haven't seen him with a beard?" Ora said. "I'm always a beard fan. I like the feeling of scruffy scruffy, but a nice little baby shave is not bad either, you know, a nice little soft touch like a baby's bum. I mean, in the movie he looks amazing."
The 23-year-old reportedly read the original "Fifty Shades of Grey" novel by E.L. James, and shared her take on the bestselling novel versus the film.
"The movie is as close as it can visually be," Ora said. "I think the actors are phenomenal in this. I'm just really honored to be on the same kind of wave length as them. This being my first movie, it's pretty awesome."
"Fifty Shades of Grey" hits theaters Feb. 13, 2015, and Ora still has a lot to figure out before then.
"I'm still thinking about, what am I going to wear at the premiere," she said. "I think I might bring a fan or do something [like that]. I think it will be a nice little experience for someone to come with me ..."
