Season 4 of "American Horror Story" has added a Grammy award winner to its cast.

Singer Patti LaBelle will appear in four episodes of the season, titled "Freak Show," TVLine reports. According to an "insider," the legendary singer will not be displaying her powerhouse singing abilities in any of the episodes.

LaBelle will play the mother of Gabourey Sidibe's character. According to TV Guide, she will be "a local townsperson who begins to discover the murderous secrets of Twisty the clown killer."

This is not the first time the 70-year-old R&B diva has tried her hand at acting. She has also appeared in "A Different World," "The Nanny," "Cosby" and, most recently, the 2011 film "Mama, I Want to Sing!" and 2008's "Semi-Pro."

The killer clown that LeBelle's character will be snooping around will be played by John Caroll Lynch ("Shutter Island"). At the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, Tim Meaner, "Freak Show" executive producer, teased the frightening character.

"[There is] a villain who will rival the rubber man and the minotaur from previous seasons," he said. "John Carroll Lynch will play him, and he will scare the sh*t out of you."

LaBelle marks the second iconic singer to appear on "American Horror Story." Stevie Nicks also had a stint during Season 3, "American Horror Story: Coven."

"We had a character in the series who was obsessed with Stevie Nicks, and we planned to use a lot of her music in the show," Minear recalled in an Emmy-themed interview with The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. "Then, amazingly, Stevie herself became available ..."

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on FX in October. A more specific date has not yet been revealed. The season takes places in 1950s Jupiter, Florida and stars Jessica Lange as a German woman managing one of the last freak shows in the U.S.
