They made headlines worldwide when they got married in 2010. At that time, actor Doug Hutchison was 51 and Courtney Stodden was only 16.

Now they are in the news once again with the announcement that they are renewing their marriage vows. The date has not been set but rumors floating around said that it would be within the year, according to People.

Parents were horrified that Stodden's parents consented to the marriage when it first happened. Fans of "Lost" actor Doug Hutchison were rethinking what kind of man Hutchinson was. The couple was an instant hit, however, with people keeping track of their every move and following closely how their marriage would pan out.

It took them three years before they finally split up. Stodden reported that their split, which happened last November, was basically due to their 34-year age difference. She also said that she wanted to experience being a teenager, which she said she felt she lost due to her very early marriage. She even detailed what she planned to do when she becomes single once again through her social networking site account.

But it seemed that their romance was rekindled early this August. Stodden said that they found some ways to get over their differences and make the relationship work. Now, she said, they are surer that they were made for each other and their experiences and the difficulties they had to endure made them stronger, according to Guardian LV.

Hutchison conducted an online acting workshop. This was where Stodden met him. Their relationship blossomed via an Internet courtship, which lasted for about six months and, to this day, Hutchison maintained that he had no idea his online girlfriend was a teenager who was only 16 at that time.

He said that he even alerted the mother of Courtney about their relationship when he finally learned that she was that young. He said he asked her mother that, should she feel any unease about the age gap, then he was willing to terminate the relationship.

She knew of the age difference because she was monitoring their conversations and let Courtney make the decision for herself. She decided to meet him in person. Later, her father, who was at first reluctant, also gave his consent when he saw how much the actor cared for Courtney. They got married in May 2011.
