The waiting time is now shorter as "The Giver" is set to hit theaters in the United States on Aug.15, according to Movie Insider.

The movie is a haunting story that is focused on Jonas. He is a young man who lives in an ideal yet colorless world, it seems. It was a world where contentment and conformity are the norm. He spent time with The Giver, played by Jeff Bridges, and, as he continues to spend time with the man, Jonas began to realize the deadly and dark truths about the history of his community, which were very well-kept secrets. The Giver is the only keeper of all the memories of the community where they reside.

With the new knowledge that Jonas gained, he soon realized that it could have deadly repercussions not only to himself but to all the people who matters the most to him. It actually meant life or death for them. He now faces a dilemma and he thought that he could protect them and spare them from death by leaving the only world that he has ever known. But the stakes are high since no one has ever succeeded in leaving the place.

"The Giver" is based on a novel of the same name which sold more than 10 million copies around the world and won the Newberry Medal in 1994.

The movie, directed by Australian film director Phillip Noyce, stars Jeff Bridges as the Giver, with Meryl Streep playing the role of the Chief Elder. Australian actor Brenton Thwaites ("The Signal," "Maleficent") plays Jonas. Swedish actor Alexander Skarsgård ("Disconnect," "The East") plays his father. Taylor Swift, who was last seen in "The New Girl" plays the role of Rosemary. The film also stars Katie Holmes as Jonas' mother, Odeya Rush as Fiona, Emma Tremblay as Lily and Cameron Monaghan as Asher.
