Martin Lawrence confirmed on Wednesday night that "Bad Boys III" is currently in development.

During his guest appearance on TBS' "Conan," Lawrence discussed the latest progress on the production of the upcoming film. The talk show host asked: "Is this true... now I heard a rumor that, 'cause people love 'Bad Boys' movies I and II, that there's gonna be 'Bad Boys III,' is that possible?"

"I believe so, yes. I just talked to [producer] Jerry Bruckheimer," the 49-year-old actor replied. "I just talked to Jerry yesterday and he said it's real. They're working on the script, they're getting close, and it all looks good."

Lawrence played Marcus Burnett, co-starring with Will Smith as Mike Lowrey in 1995 original "Bad Boys" and its 2003 follow-up "Bad Boys II," which ends with the dynamic duo basically invading Cuba.

O'Brien then asked, "Now, have you done all the casting on that yet?" Lawrence joked, saying: "No, we wanna cast you in. You know what you can play? As a crooked cop on crack."

"Yes! Yes! I think I was born to play that -- I don't know where the money is, it's just missing!" the host shouted, laughing.

Although he did not reveal whether Smith would reprise his role as Marcus' partner in crime, Lawrence hinted at the possibility when Conan O'Brien jokingly asked the actor to promise him at least a walk-by role in the new movie. "I will mention it to Will Smith and Jerry Bruckheimer, how about that? Conan wants a cameo in the movie," he said, smiling.

Martin Lawrence previously admitted that he had discussed the sequel of the action comedy film with director Michael Bay. "It's real realistic," he told MTV back in 2010. "We've talked about 'Bad Boys III."
